As a God Hercules called on all other gods except Plutus. Asked why not, Hercules said he saw the God of Wealth with many rascals on Earth it wasn’t proper.

Demades, an orator, tried getting people to listen but they would not until he started a fable. He stopped mid-fable chiding them for avoiding truth.

A Kingfisher normally hides but this day was out looking for her young ones. While out, a storm came and washed away the nest and babies. What a shame!

The Camel complained to Jupiter about his stature relative to other animals. Jupiter was angry at this and that is why now Camels have shorter ears.

Apples and Horse Dung were washed down a stream. They mixed together until the Dung thought itself equal to the Apples. It wasn’t.

A Partridge put in with gamecocks watched them fight and worried for his safety. Not to worry he found out as game cocks fight each other all the time.

The fable concerns a dog who has been taught to control its appetite when delivering its master’s dinner while he is at work.

A dog slept while his Master, a Blacksmith, worked. When the Master went to eat the Dog woke for his food. In jest, one day the Master chided the Dog.

This fable tells that it's always good to think about our wishes from a practical point of view. 

A physician comes to cure blindness. On each visit an item is stolen. When he demands payment he gets nothing.

A Philosopher saw a shipwreck. While musing on the fate of the vessel a swarm of Ants approach and one bit him. He stomped on them all. Hypocrite.

A Dog ran while lapping at the Nile to avoid Crocodiles. A Crocodile tried to get friendly so the Dog told him why he ran. No meal today Crocodile!

A Hound scared and chased a Hare but gave up after some distance. Asked why, the Hound cited motivation: Hound ran for supper, Hare ran for life. 

A Buffoon entertained with animal sounds. A Man said he could imitate a pig better. On stage the audience reviled his performance until he showed the pig.

An Ass started to play on the roof and broke tiles. The Owner beat him. The Ass thought it strange he could not do with yesterday a Monkey did.

A Boy was in danger of drowning and asked for help. The bystander berated him for being in the river. Boy asked that he help now and criticize later.

A Mountain emitting terrible noises was said to be in labor. But, as people watched to see what would happen, all they saw come out of it was a mouse.

A Flea begged for his life after biting a man. No argument the Flea used could be enough to sway the man from killing the evil Flea.

This fable is about people who foolishly leave themselves unprotected against their enemies and push their friends away as if those friends were plotting against them.

 A Dog dropped into a well. When the Master reached in to get the Dog he thought the Master meant to push him further in. Stupid Dog. 

Three Rivers started to accuse the Sea of turning their water salty and unfit. The Sea cut them off saying all they had to do was stop flowing. Hah!

A Spider and Silkworm were spinning. Spider bragged how fast its web was built. Silkworm pointed out her web would be treasured while Spider’s swept away.

A Hare had many good weather friends. When trouble was near they all refused to help the Hare who only barely managed to escape on his own.

An Eagle was caught and had his wings clipped. A neighbor bought the Eagle and let his wings grow out. A Fox cautioned the Eagle about paying tribute.

The Moon was in Eclipse and complained to the Sun. Moon realized the Earth was the problem. Too bad!
