Should Christians pay taxes even when a government is using those taxes to carry out sinful or evil ends? This is a question that Christians have had to wrestle with throughout human history, and every generation of Christian must study God's Word to find an answer. God has given governmental authorities the power to bear the sword, which includes capital punishment and war. For those who would stand opposed to these God ordained "ministers," he or she must recognize that they may find themselves standing opposed to God. Therefore, Christians must be clear on the "why," "how," and "when" with regard to their submitting to governing authorities.

Christians are commanded to submit to all governing authorities, as it is God who has ordained authorities as ministers of common grace. How should Christians respond to authorities, and should they submit themselves to wicked authorities? Is there a difference between submission and obedience? These critical questions are answered by God in the Scriptures.

Paul commands Christians to love like our Savior Who died for His enemies. We must, therefore, determine to bless those who persecute us and not to curse. Also, we are called to not be self-absorbed, but to love those around us with a "others focused" love.

How should a Christian live? The answer can be summed up in one word: love. Paul labors in verses 9 - 21 on the importance of love and how it should define the Christian life. The four points of love are that we must love the good, love the brotherhood, love our neighbors, and love our enemies.

Every believer has a gift from the Lord which is given in order to build up the Body of Christ, the Church. We are called to use those gifts, and to be faithful with all that the Lord has given. Do you know your gift and are you using it in the Church?

God has given everything in His Son, Jesus Christ. So we are called to give everything back to Him as living sacrifices. Thus, Paul calls believers to give God their bodies, minds, and wills in order to bring glory to His name.

David affirms his allegiance to Christ but says he hates the wicked with complete hatred. Furthermore, he hates all rebellion that might exist within himself as well. Where is your allegiance, and do you hate darkness as you should?

In the debate about when life begins, Psalm 139 gives a clear answer to the fact that life begins at conception. Furthermore, David attributes the creation of the fetus directly to God's creative work. The embryo in its mother's womb, then, is a wonderful creation of God that must be cared for and protected.

David cries out to God in the midst of troubles (cf. Ps. 138) and knows that only God can deliver him. Psalm 139 declares four foundational truths that the believer must remember when facing dark days. This sermon is the first of a three part series that addresses two of the four foundational truths found in this Psalm.

We often plan for unexpected things in this life, weather, health, finances, etc., but do we plan for God's will? Proverbs 16 contains to important truths that must be observed today: 1) God opposes the proud, 2) God establishes the steps of those who fear Him.

What is the main take away from Paul after one of the greatest theological treaties ever penned? Worship! Theology, when properly done, must always lead to doxology. Listen to Paul's amazing response to the greatest story ever told.

Paul reveals the mystery that he has been building towards throughout chapters 9 - 11, which is that God will save Israel after the full number of Gentiles has been brought in. God will never lose any of His elect but will be glorified in both the salvation of Jews and Gentiles.

The People of God consists of two particular people, the Jews and the Gentiles. Both peoples play an important role in the overarching plan of redemption. One is natural to God's promises (the Jews) and the other is wild (the Gentiles). In Christ, however, there is no Jew or Gentile as they all receive equal standing as God's adopted children.

Why has God allowed Israel to stumble over Jesus? Paul explains that God intended for the Jew's rejection of Christ to mean riches for the Gentiles, but he reminds the Gentiles that God has not forsaken Israel. God is jealous for Israel and Israel will be made jealous for their God.

Has God forsaken Israel? Paul's response is that God never forsakes His elect, which includes a remnant within Israel. While many Jews have rejected their Messiah, God is always faithful to maintain His remnant whom He chose before the foundation of the world.

How will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? The church must be on mission and focus on developing laborers for the harvest. What are you doing to support the great commission and how can the church get back on mission?

What is the Word of Faith Paul refers to here? It is the one sermon Paul preached everywhere he traveled - the Gospel. In this passage, one will find the clearest gospel explanation in all of Scripture.

No one has ever been justified by the works of the Law (Rom. 3:20), but many still try to earn their own salvation. The Jews were not able to receive their Messiah because of their own pride. Today, we will look at how to be saved and the dangers of trying to save yourself.

God has called both the Jews and the Gentiles to become children of God and has redeemed humanity through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Paul makes clear that we are not worthy to question God's sovereign decisions, especially when it come to the matter of whom God's has elected for mercy or destruction. Nevertheless, we can behold God's amazing glory by standing amazed at the mercy He has for His children.
