Proverbs 16:24 Kind words are like honey: sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. What are your own words like?

Mark‬ ‭11:22-23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ says “So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”

If you know the story of Gideon, then you’ll agree with me that ‘bold and courageous’ were two adjectives that could not be used to describe him. But God always sends the right people into our lives who will speak positive words of encouragement that will help us to see ourselves as God sees us.

What do you do when you are oppressed and faced with great challenges that shake your confidence, beat you down and tell you that you can’t succeed? Go on the counteroffensive like David!

This week, we are looking at the flip side and we will be studying about the power of positive words and it’s impact our lives. What do you believe in your heart and what are you confessing with your mouth?

From our devotionals this week we’ve seen how negative words spoken by us or by other people over us can have a really terrible impact on our lives. So what can we do about it?

We must always be careful about who and what we listen to. All around us people are trying so hard to get our attention and there are so many voices speaking random words and a lot of these words stray into our minds without us realising it. The words we speak reveal the state of our hearts. Luke 6:45 says out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks so if you have negativity in your heart your mouth will speak what is negative but if you have good in your heart then what comes out of your mouth will be positive. What negative emotions are you harbouring in your heart that cause you to make negative confessions?

When people who have authority like parents, mentors, leaders and so on speak negative words over people under them, whether deliberately or not, it can have a very negative impact on the people they speak those words over. What words are the people who have authority over you speaking into your life? I pray that none of them speak negative words over you in Jesus name.

We’re all affected by the words that are spoken and those words can be spoken by us or spoken by other people over us

Anyone that has the wrong mind cannot please God and cannot fulfil God’s plans for his or her life because a wrong mind cannot understand and cannot value the things of God. So what wrong minds do we need to pray against? The bible tells us about different types of wrong minds.
