Romans‬ ‭12:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬ says “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.”

What would you do if God told you that He was physically coming down from heaven to pay you a visit and He intends to stay in your house for a week? What would your reaction be? Will you panic? Will you beg Him not to to come yet because you have a lot to tidy up? Will you change your lifestyle, your friends, your clothes, the things you say and do everyday for the period He’s around?

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”

Our bodies want to be the boss of us and there is a constant struggle for control between our body and our spirit. Colossians‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭CEV‬‬ says “Don't be controlled by your body…”

1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:19‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,”

Psalms‬ ‭139:14‬ ‭ICB‬‬ “I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful. I know this very well.” ‭‭ God created Samson with incredible strength and Esther with amazing beauty for what purpose?

Do you know that the body you have or the way you look is tailored to the purpose that God wants you to fulfil? However, if you are ignorant of this fact, you will never take advantage of it.

God was very deliberate about giving you a body. He didn’t give us bodies because He didn’t have anything better to do with His time after creating man and He decided to make us look fancy! No!

Proverbs‬ ‭18:24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

Ecclesiastes‬ ‭4:9-10‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.” ‭‭

Proverbs‬ ‭27:6‬ ‭TPT‬‬ says “You can trust a friend who wounds you with his honesty, but your enemy’s pretended flattery comes from insincerity.”

John‬ ‭13:34-35‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.””

If you are a child of God who has accepted Jesus as your Lord and saviour, one criteria that should top your list in choosing your best friends is that they should have accepted Jesus and they should have a desire to know Him like you do. Proverbs‬ ‭27:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬ says “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” Do you have best friends that sharpen you spiritually?
