When Jesus was asked to perform miracles (signs), he stated that no sign would be given to such a generation except the sign of Jonah. But what is the sign of Jonah? If you’ve ever said “no” to God, if you’ve ever failed to do what God said, if you’ve ever been bitter that God’s mercy is being extended to those you think deserve God’s wrath: well, this is a calling you need to hear.

Fear is powerful. And the most powerful fear is the one that dominates your thinking and behavior. Fear might lead to cowardice, or ironically it can lead to bravery. This week we’ll examine God’s calling of a coward, and the ironic solution to cowardice: the right kind of fear.

One of the best ways to understand the rise or fall of a nation and one of the best means of viewing your own spiritual walk, comes to us from an illustration of clay. Join us as we hear from God through Jeremiah about pottery and garbage heaps (Jer 18-20).

So God has given a message of impending judgment to His people, but God tells Jeremiah the prophet to offer the people worshipping in the temple a way of escaping being taken into exile… they only have to do what God has been telling them to do all along. We often feel detached from such people, as though they were folk heroes who exhibited impossible faith. But we have far more in common with them than you might realize. This week we gather to see how the call of Jeremiah mirrors our own significant Kingdom call.
