Catch These Vibes

How has the year been so far? Well I started the year off a bit emotional. I turned 32 in January and lowkey succumbed to the birthday turn up pressure. I went on a date recently that lacked *Sparks* so we gotta get into that and how my dating life has been going overall. I wanted to encourage myself and my listeners by reading this article titled "You're not unmotivated. You're disco...

In this episode we get into Brandy's second album, Never say Never. S/O to the 90s braid wearing queen!

Based on Terry McMillan's novel, this film follows four very different African-American women and their relationships with men.

TLC was one of the best groups ever. They were swagged tf out and embodied the 90s vibe to the core. You can’t discuss the 90s music scene without mentioning them and their impact. sources used: https://genius.com/albums/Tlc/Crazysexycool http://www.jsaysonline.com/entertainment/what-was-missing-from-tlc-movie https://www.blackpast.org/african-american-history/tlc-1991/

In this episode we get into Love Jones starring Nia Long and Larenz Tate. Most people would name this movie as one of their favorite movies that depicts Black Love and I would have to agree.

In this episode we get into the narrative that Nicki is "beefing" with other girls for no reason at all. I still don't see any of it as beef fr. She’s a rapper and all the speculation of who she’s had bars for has not been confirmed 🤷🏾‍♀️. It’s really damned if she do, damned if she don’t so why y’all mad she embraces the bad guy role? People don’t know what they want from her exactly. Let’s tal...

Undeniably one of the albums that defined the 90s and changed the landscape for women in rap forever. Lauryn Hill had the beauty, brains and capability to fearlessly rhyme about her life and experiences which set her apart from any other artist before her. Her performance in Sister Act 2 as Rita Watson in 1993 showcased her acting skills as it was her movie debut that proved acting was something s...

In this episode we get into some of Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence's best work. Getting these too together for the movie Life was the best casting decision ever. The effortless way they are able to go back and forth with their comedic banter is hilariously appealing and makes this movie some of their best work. The movie tells a story about two men who met one unfortunate night that changed thei...

Uh ohhhh we back with a new NMC episode. I definitely wasn't expecting to be discussing a new song this soon but here we are! Welcome to season 5! This episode is about Destiny's Childs sophomore album that came out in 1999. In this episode I will be getting into The Writings on The Wall by Destiny’s Child. One of the best selling groups of all time. The album sold over 130,000 when it first was released in July of 1999. By the end of 2001 the album was certified 8x platinum. I definitely played this cd out and loved lis...

In this episode I get into how I feel Nicki is arguably the most hated/loved rapper in the game. I share some of my thoughts on the Grammys Hip Hop tribute and what it was lacking. In a perfect world there’s some things that would’ve made it better. I give some advice to the barbz and how they should used their power, more so how they shouldn’t. How would you feel if Nicki didn’t drop a new album...

It’s been a lil while since we last discussed The Queen of Rap. Let’s catch up and get into the Grammy noms, Super Freaky Girl success and the conversation about ghostwriters and people questioning Nicki’s pen. I didn’t talk about it but did want to praise the latest magazine covers that Nicki graced recently. Both cover stories were based on Nicki bein interviewed by one of her peers. Interview m...

In this final spooky season episode, we get into a different type of scary movie. One that doesn't involve a masked killer. The Sixth Sense is more along the lines of a ghost movie. After the review we get into some horror movie recommendations like Evil Dead, It Follows and some of the more recent movies like Barbarian and Black Phone. Come to find out Barbarian should be available to stream on H...

Nicki posed a very valid question and point but some how this has been turned into her being a “bully”. Some people clearly want Nicki to shut up and have her team speak for her. But Nicki has always been outspoken and I doubt she will stop being that just for twitters sake.

In this episode we get into the slasher franchise Scream. These movies have been trending topics all year. That's because the impact of the Scream movie is going to stand the test of time. With one of the best opening scenes in Scream (1996), this franchise proves to be most people's favorite of them all. We’ve made it to October which is the start of Spooky Season. The first movie for the month is a classic slasher film of the 90s.

In this episode we get into one of my favorite Rom coms ever starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Adam plays Robbie Hart, a wedding singer that is passionate about writing music and doing what he can until he gets his big break in the music industry. Drew plays Julia, who is a little unsure about her engagement. These two love bird end up finding each other and realizing what real love should...

In this episode we get into the thriller Kiss The Girls starring Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd. Freeman plays Dr. Alex Cross, a Forensic Psychologist that goes on a hunt for his nieces kidnapper. Ashley Judd stars as Kate Mctiernan, a Doctor who gets kidnapped by the same abductor as Naomi Cross, the niece of Dr. Cross.  Social media accounts: Follow the podcast on Twitter: @catch_vibespod Instag...

In this episode we are getting into the movie Eve's Bayou. A family goes through the ups and downs that infidelity and death can cause on one. We also get into the Creole Culture and the origins of voodoo.

First of all the #QueenMix was released and did not disappoint. It was a moment for the culture and instead of some choosing to celebrate and be proud of it they chose to hate. S/o to JT, Bia, Katie Got Bandz, Akbar and Maliibu Mitch for doing an amazing job on writing their verses and getting the opportunity to work with the Queen of Rap. Why is it only female rap unity when it doesn't involve Ni...

The VMAs was a blast. The Super Freaky Girl video is fire and the views are speculated to be averaging 1 mil a day so it’s safe to say the people are loving the video. Nicki will have a #QueenRadio episode tonight and may premiere a #Queenmix to SFG during the episode. Who is going to be on the remix? The people are dying to know.
