When we read the Bible and understand God from its text, we often do so with a Western mindset. However, we have to remember that the Bible is an ancient text written with an ancient Near East way of thinking that is quite different. How can we relate to God in a more relational way by reading it with a renewed mindset?

We make an estimated 35,000 decisions per day and out of those thousands of decisions what would it look like to change the filter and ask the question: What is the wise thing for me to do?

In Luke 22, Jesus establishes something new. He shares a vision of a world that starts with Him now and goes on for all eternity. His promise of a relationship with Him doesn’t begin “someday” - we can be in a relationship with Him now. Jesus is saying during The Last Supper, “I’m the one. You can find forgiveness, grace, and rest in me and it’s for all of you.”

We get to choose in this life if we step into the opportunities to help tell God’s story. God wants to partner with us. We all have an audience that knows us and what we’re about. We may feel we’re lacking in some areas, but God can use whatever we bring or don’t bring to the table, which we see reflected in Luke 9. It may be worthwhile to ask what we want others to see from us.
