Jeremy West brings us a little gem from Jeremiah 316, reminding us that the Old Covenant and that way of relating to God is gone...we won't miss it, and it won't ever be that way again.  

Paul writes to Timothy that all scripture is inspired by God and is profitable.  What scripture is inspired?  What does inspired mean? And What does he mean that scripture is profitable for the believer?  It might not mean what you've always thought it means!

1 John 316 tells us that we know love because Jesus laid down his life for us...but what does that actually tell us, and what does it mean that we should love and care for one another in that same way?

1 Corinthians tells us that as believers we not only have the Holy Spirit in us individually, but also that the Holy Spirit dwells in us corporately!  What a beautiful image to have not only be filled with the Spirit, but also surrounded by the Spirit who dwells in our brothers and sister in Christ.  

When we read a verse like Philippians 3:16 we often contorted in our minds into a "you better live up the standard, or else" kind of a scripture.  But when we read all of Phil. 3 through the understanding of grace, we can realize that this verse is really about living out of who God has already made us to be in Christ.

Through the Apostle John Jesus lets the church at Laodicea know that there's something going on that is not pleasing to him.  Often times, this scripture gets twisted and abused, guilting genuine believers into working harder to please God becoming more spiritually self made for fear that He might spit them out.  Ironically, thats exactly what Jesus finds displeasing...

In Ephesians 6 Paul gives some instructions for parents and children to have a successful relationship.  This is not a guarantee or a fool proof formula, but it does give some direction an indication of how to fulfill the primary purpose of the family unit.   

Remembering who we once were- reminds us that we are no long what we once were.  And knowing that the only thing that made that change was Jesus should give us new eyes for the world around us.
