A couple weeks ago, there was a glitch in the matrix, so Ep. 29 & 30 did not properly upload. This week I’m blessed with something close to laryngitis, so it works well for me. In this episode, I finish my interaction with Peter Atherton’s NYTimes opinion piece “The God Problem,” which isn’t really a problem, but a problem with poor definitions.

As the Church faces increasing social marginalization, we need to return to the basics of the church and evangelism.

Central to our evangelism is addressing the nature and reality of sin. Often sin is dealt with in a trivial – everyone knows they’re a sinner – so we rarely address the depths of the nature of the sin of man in our evangelism and relying on “human flourishing” or mere psychological categories. A recovery of the reality of sin is what our soul sick culture needs.

Joshua Harris, an influential “purity culture” advocate and pastor, has renounced the Faith. We look at his apostasy and seek to relate it to the most common question I get in the Church, “How do you keep your kids in the Faith?”

We brush on Joshua Harris’ divorce and #PurityCulture, as well as continue our response to Dr Peter Atterton’s “A God Problem.”

Over the next few weeks, I’ll look at God’s attributes of omnipotence, omnibenevolence, and omniscience, and whether or not they present a problem for the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This week I focus on omnipotence. Intro and outro music: All Saved Freak Band “The Sower.”

In March, the NY Times published an opinion piece arguing that theism, understood as “God” being an “omnipotent,” “omniscient,” and “omnibenevolent” being is incoherent. I introduce that issue, which we will address over the next few weeks each one of these attributes and seek to show they are actually coherent.

Norm Geisler passed today, so I speak about his influence on me early on in my Christian life, and then I address “why pluralism?” or, really, why so many different religions? At the Tower of Babel God divided the Nations and handed them over to the “sons of God,” but kept Israel for himself.

In this episode, we look at the claims of pluralism, both religious and political, that suggest the exclusivist religious claims are arrogant intellectually and morally. Pluralism is a central element of our society and any evangelism is going to have to deal with pluralist objections, both intellectual and psychological. We introduce the issue this week  as well as look at A.W. Tozer’s “The Old Cross and the New”

Ever so brief look at Horus and Mithra re: Christianity copying their religious dogmas. We also touch on revival and prayer in the expansion of the Kingdom.

Abortion is front and center in the news, so I explain how I discuss the topic on campus. We look at eradicating materialist presuppositions in the believer, briefly look at the practical aspect of engaging an unbeliever with the Bible or utilizing other resources in *persuading* the unbeliever, and then give a brief account on why we believe the crucifixion with a real, historical event.

In this episode, I address the “Christ Myth,” the idea that Jesus of Nazareth didn’t really exist, but is the invention of the early Church. We look at the internal evidence from the Bible, as well the work of Tacitus and Josephus. In short, yes, he existed.

I lay out why you should believe the Gospels were written within 40 years of the death of Jesus by eyewitnesses or secondhand accounts.
