Camp Time is Real Time

Eric takes us way back to a time when Explorers... had free periods!? We talk about activities and traditions that are no more, what it was like way back in the day, and of course the Nutty Buddy Champion talks about winning food challenges. Eric and the Gittings have been at camp for 80% of the camp's existence and we got into all of it on this pod!

Current counselor and former camper John takes us through what it's like becoming a counselor after being away for decades. He also graces us with the first ever musical act on the pod, talks about being the Music counselor, collaborating with younger counselors, and the episode wouldn't be complete unless we talked about overnights.

Ty and I go through what makes for a great Counselor Competition and then discuss our top 5. We go deeeep into the Battle Royale and Ty educates me on the distinction between Counselor Competitions and Eating Competitions. Help me count down, camp: FIVE...4, 3, 2, 1!

If you've been listening from the beginning, you know Bill is basically the reason this podcast exists. I had high expectations for this conversation, and boy did Bill deliver! We hit on a bunch of iconic moments from the 90s, classic videos, music, and get into the origin of some camp classics! 

Jack and Scott join to talk about Archery. Well, things get off the rails real quick when we start talking about the White Gorilla. We do find our way back to Archery, and along the way talk about great counselors from "off the street," counselor competitions, shark teeth, more pranks, and great ideas for new activities (not yoga).

Ty and I talk with Freddie about the woods. He told us his camp story; growing up as a camper and CIT and then coming back as a head, his new training method which includes a "light jog in the woods" with campers, and he shares some ideas for shows for the 2022 season. 

Director of Aquatics, Kelley, talks about early life at camp. We go down memory lane discussing the counselors she worked with when she started, overnights, the original Serge, eating competitions, counselor competitions, counselors driving kids to camp, being Camp Royalty and a little about the pool!
