Right before Jesus begins his ministry he was led by the Spirit into the wilderness for a time of testing and temptation. As Satan begins his onslaught of temptation Jesus finds his response to the attack rooted and grounded in the Word of God. As followers of Jesus let’s look to Jesus and his example of how to battle temptation and the attacks that the enemy throws at us.

During the final days of Jesus life before He was crucified he spent time being questioned by the religious leaders who were trying to discredit him. One lawyer wanted to know what the greatest commandment in all of scripture was. Jesus response brings incredible focus on what matters most in this life that we have been given to live.

Jesus teaches his disciples in the sermon on the mount what it means to be citizens of a new kingdom and during this teaching he challenges them to not live lives that are anxious. That challenge may seem insurmountable to most but Jesus unlocks what it looks like to live free from the bondage of anxiety by what we choose to seek first.

Ephesians 3 teaches that God created the Church so that His wisdom would be made known to the world. For this to take place, Paul prays that we would have the power and strength to comprehend the breadth, and length and height and depth of the love of God.

This week during C4 we dive into who you are when it comes to God’s master plan in building His church.

In order to understand who we are we have to look into our past and see who we were. We need to look in the present and see what God has done. And we need to look into the future and see who God is calling us to be.

If you could describe your Christian life in one word what would it be? Why is it that when most people think of their Christian life they wouldn’t describe it as one that is lived in power? In the last half of Ephesians chapter one Paul lays out a prayer for the Ephesian church that we can pray today and he helps us see how to live with the same power that rose Jesus from the dead.

The apostle Paul helps us define what it means to have our identities shaped by what God has done for us and who He says we are.

God created us to be in relationship with others and while that desire is a good thing, we need to first find our identity in Christ, not those relationships. Built on the foundation of Christ, the God-made institution of marriage ought to be esteemed as a covenant relationship for the glory of God, with sex as a good gift from God within the marriage context.
