c2eMusic Soulful Deep House

Yeah I know - November Mix, but it's almost Christmas. Well it should have been released over three weeks ago, and to be fair in a couple of months time anyone visiting the podcast won't know any different! This mix was originally going to be a full two hours of new music, however five minutes into the show I saw a post on Facebook from Andy Ward saying he was tuned in. Yikes - pressure was on (no...

You may have noticed that there haven't been many c2eMusic podcasts released over the last few weeks. Initially it was due to work commitments, but more recently it was life chucking a grenade, the kind that makes you stop in your tracks and rethink, well pretty much everything. As a result there hasn't been much room in my tiny brain for music, even though listening to it keeps me sane. There is...

The title is no reflection of the show itself, more the time of year, more recently one of my favourite times of year. Having lived on the top side most of my life along with most of you guys, I am still adjusting to life down under being out of sync with the majority when it comes to the seasons. It means that I have to watch you guys enjoying those great late light summer nights, BBQs with frien...

This week's show was off then on again. Resulted in another last minute trolley dash (don't they all?!) Some great stuff about on the soulful tip right now, anchored by the excellent Nathan Adams release on Tribe. It gives this mix a classic c2eMusic feel from a few years back. There is a nice mix of different styles through the mix as it transitions and builds. The opening stuff is really lush an...

This week's show is named after the most featured artist in the set - Joss Moog. His recent EP Late Nite Beats has so much sizzle that we have 4 tracks from it in the show - very impressive. Big thanks to fellow Pressure resident Sahara 247 for the heads up on "Big Mike" and Mr Paul Grooves - who played after me last week and opened my ears to a few of the tracks in here including - "In Detroit",...

Yep that's right not just smooth but Kojak smooth - but don't go expecting much phunk - we only have one Dave Lee track in here. This week's show was moved to Friday as people were telling me they couldn't get access to the stream. I also couldn't see whether I was streaming or not, so best option was to postpone. Big thanks to Leah and Jules for keeping me company in the chatroom on the Friday. T...

It's about that time to have a look back at 2013 so far. As expected quality soulful house releases haven't been that plentiful following the trend of recent years. In contrast it's been a good year so far on the deep side helped by the many young producers adding to the scene. The likes of James Dexter, Evan Iff, Detroit Swindle, Kyodai and Dale Howard. In addition established producers have come...

This is the mix that nearly got away.  Recorded live on Pressure during the crazy week when I had the house to myself.  I'd wanted to play a disco/funky sounding house set and as you'll hear started off well, but was easily distracted!  The crowning glory comes at the end when we sign off with not one, not two but five big old classic tunes. From memory I was joined in the chatroom by Kevin Anthon...

This is one for the deep heads with plenty of b-line and very little singing with a huge UK undercurrent. Some show's are like projects and very well planned, some are done with a direction and feel in mind, others are spur of the moment but with tunes that I'm familiar with. This session is non of the above. Made up as we go along with tracks I don't know. Very risky as the mix could take a chang...

Named after the accapella drop early in the mix - always sounds great and especially over the deepness. This show is a condensed version of the one I did as part of the Soulful Saturday cover the previous weekend while the Pressure family celebrated 10 years. It was also Andy Wards birthday so double celebration. Would love to have gone, but that is the sacrifice you make when you move to the othe...

Not that you ever would....but after three no shows due to overseas travel it's a possibility. I had every intention of doing lot's of digging on the various music sites to find gems and the like whilst away. But when the alternative is spending quality time with my beautiful wife and precious children there was only ever going to be one outcome. So last minute trolley dash the day before the show...

Yep I sure had plenty of it when this show was recorded. It is the regular slot c2eMusic show, but with no kids to put to bed I started 45 minutes earlier. Was keen to pull together some of my favourite deep tracks on the more chilled side for this show. It features artists like Lovebirds, Shur-I-Kan, Milton Jackson and Frank Roger. It is also the first live show using Traktor. Must admit the qual...

This is a release of the recording of the show from 3rd June which was a Sunday. Following on from DJ Arch on pressure the bar had been set high as always by the very talented Arch. It was just after midnight on the Eastern seaboard in the US, Europe was pretty much asleep, and it was the middle of the afternoon in Sydney. Since the listeners in the chatroom were mainly from the US, with the excep...

This was an impromptu set recorded on my birthday. I had spent the morning with my beautiful wife and kids before dropping them at the airport. Got back home at 3pm - the Pressure airwaves were free, so what better way to spend your birthday than playing house music :) Almost three hours later a new deep house session had been created. Had fun hanging in chat with Dangsta and Dini. Whenever those...

This weeks show falls between two birthdays in my family - my eldest son Bailey who turned six and my good self who turned 30 something..... So this session is a pressie to the two of us. This show builds on the good foundation of the previous week. A bit more thought went into the direction and flow and I think it sounds better for it. I actually went shopping in the "House" aisle on Traxsource t...

The last few mixes with the exception of the recent Pure V have been deep and chunky so I felt it was time to add a spoonful of mellow. The result is the Duvet Session which has a much more soulful feel. It was another last minute trolley dash around the music supermarket just before the show. This time however I forgot to hit record during the show, so we had to come back and do it all again the...

This was a seat of pants show - to the point of still downloading tracks 15 minutes before the start. The new stuff being downloaded was on the deeper early show side, but had no real feel for what the tracks actually did. As a result the mix started with a BANG. Don't think anyone was expecting such a punch especially me! With the odd exception the tracks are mainly from the last few weeks and wh...

This is the 151st Podcast release.  Mind blowing, took ages to get to 100 but the last 50 have flown by.  Long journey for those that have been there from the beginning. Listening back there have been  many different styles and influences reflected in the mixes and I look forward to continuing on this musical journey with you all. To mark this milestone we have a special show as we pay homage to o...

So named because we have a real mix of styles in here and it is just so damn tasty, I mean no extra dressing required tasty, and the freshness of the produce...... Once again big up them farmers. Another show of almost only new tracks with the only exception being the last track, which you have to listen right to the end for, wait till your iPod stops, don't guess it's finished or you'll miss it :...

It's been over seven years since I said goodbye to the motherland and headed down under.  It's only when you leave somewhere that you fully appreciate everything you loved about it.  For me that's a mix of smooth pothole free roads, and an unrivaled love of house music spanning over 25 years. This is the first time I have done a mix that celebrates the creative dynamos that live on the windy wet r...

Great show this week - the week had flown by and no time or thought had gone into any themes or ideas as to what to play. Then at lunchtime I decided to have a quick look on Traxsource, not expecting to achieve much. To my surprise it was a very fruitful session and after just 45 minutes I had a decent looking basket. Tracks were purchased and downloaded around tea time, and in the hour leading up...

This weeks show had a deeper mellow vibe for the most part. An Africa Deep sound that then headed over to NY in the form of Mr V who posted back 2 back 2 back tracks. His unmistakable smooth rolling sound epitomises the first hour of the show. Big fan of Kyodai so it's no suprise to hear a couple of their tracks in the mix, again back to back. It's then time for some vocal tracks to be added into...

Had nothing planned whatsoever for this weeks show. Up until a couple of hours before it was touch and go as to whether the show would be live from Jay-J's new residency in Sydney, so in my naivety I left my Traxsource cart unpurchased! Luckily it turned out well with a big bumper show packed full of things that tickle my fancy. Since it was spur of the moment the direction of the mix was very muc...

This weeks show had a lot to live up to following last week marathon live show from Jay-Js birthday party at the Civic Underground in Sydney. Had a busy and action packed chatroom this week led by Leah the "Late Night Dancer".  Never a dull moment when she's in there. The show featured mostly new stuff although the latter part was a healthy mix of new and recent deep chunky bouncing pumping tracks...

This weeks show was new stuff almost all the way.  The UK Garage sound is growing stronger by the week.  So many tracks with those London style synths and an increasing number using vocal stabs from the late 80's and early 90's house classics. Very conscious not to put out a pure UK Garage show at the moment.  Always like to try and mix the sound up a little hence the way this one flows providing...
