Busy Black Mums Do Read

Arts EN ↓ 30 episodes

A podcast for Busy Black Mums who love to read, and want to up their reading game. We discuss books, recommendations and other random life stuff. Us Mums have a lot on our plate. We know that. How many tines have you started reading a book, or wanted to read a book, but just never got round to doing it because you had one million and one other things to do? Along with other mums, we challenge the assumption that as busy mums (and especially busy black mums), reading (and enjoying ourselves) is something we have to sacrifice in order to cope with the demands life throws at us.

Following the story of an aspiring Chemist whose dreams of becoming a well respected Scientist is thwarted at every...

Maame book review 09.03.2024

In this mini episode, I talk about a book I read in February 'Maame' by Jessica George. A deeply moving story that I didn't want to put down! There are some books that stay with you long after you've finished reading them. This is one of them.

The Color Purple and A Spell of Good Things Book review 05.03.2024

In this first ever episode of BBMDR, Azeeza talks reading across different platforms (and why you should give it a go). In this first episode, I was quite keen to explore some of the struggles us mums have which stop us from prioritising our passion for reading and how we can get round this. I also discuss what I thought about the first book I read this year, Alice Walker's classic 'The Co...
