We live in distressful times. But for believers, it’s actually an exciting time to be alive. This could be our opportunity to do the greatest work of God. Bucky takes a biblical look at living with no excuses, even while in distressful circumstances.

As parents, we aren’t responsible for our children’s salvation. We are, however, responsible for the example we set for them. We are either a stepping stone or a stumbling block to their faith. Bucky lays out three stepping stones to bringing our kids to Christ and laying a foundation for strong faith.

We live in an age when people say that church is no longer relevant. But if the church doesn’t matter, why is Satan working so hard to destroy it? His strategy for attacking the church is to distract and deceive individual believers. So what happens on Sunday is just a reflection of our walk and our worship throughout the week.

Deception is the greatest weapon in Satan’s arsenal. Because the heart determines what the minds thinks, the enemy appeals to our emotions with the aim of changing how we think. The sudden changes in our culture are largely the product of replacing truth with feelings. Those who use logic and discernment are now seen as insensitive. But when people consistently reject the truth of God’s Word, He eventually gives them over to godless reasoning, which leads to delusional thinking. Bucky discusses how the Bible both foretells and warns about this kind of delusional thinking.

All believers experience spiritual warfare. How we handle it reveals our true spiritual condition. That’s why Christians need to understand the schemes of our enemy, the devil. He studies and stalks believers in order to strike where we’re most vulnerable. He knows that whatever sin we tolerate, he can use to manipulate. Bucky talks about how to identify and remove these sinful strongholds.

If truth is relative (my truth, your truth, etc.) then marriage and family can be completely redefined; and that’s exactly what has happened. Christian parents need to understand the anti-family agenda, how this war is being waged, and what they can do to guard against it. Bucky discusses several aspects of our culture’s war on the family.

We live in a culture of victimization. The Bible, however, tells us that victory is not only a possibility, but a necessity. If we live in the world’s victim mentality, then we will always struggle in our walk with the Lord. So it’s vital that we understand our position as believers. We can live each day as victors in Christ, not victims of a hard life.

Many things about the woke movement sound good and may even feel good. But looking at it through a biblical lens reveals another story. Although a lot of people claim to know Jesus, there’s often no evidence in their life to indicate that is true. According to Luke 13, the real question regarding salvation is, “Does Jesus Know YOU?”

We’re living in some of the most consequential times in the history of Christianity. As a result, many believers are praying for personal and national revival. First Kings 18 points to evidence that revival is taking place. But Christians must first put the elements of revival into practice.

Our country desperately needs spiritual renewal, but we can’t experience national revival if we aren’t seeking it individually. God’s people face the same types of opposition today that Elijah faced in 1 Kings 18. As believers, we need to recognize what's keeping America from revival.

God sometimes uses the hard circumstances of life to bring us to a place of absolute abandon to Him. Before God can trust us with a demonstration of His power publicly, we must desire and depend on His presence privately. There’s no better illustration of these lessons than this week’s study of Elijah.

God sometimes puts us in a difficult place in order to prepare us for what’s ahead—like a spiritual boot camp. When God put Elijah in a place of preparation, the prophet had to let go of some things. Elijah’s experience demonstrates why preparation is vital; and it helps us see the weakness of faith that costs us nothing.

Dark and difficult times can make us question whether God has forgotten about us. Reading First Kings, it's easy to see how the prophet Elijah could have felt that way.
