Bridging the Gap With Pastor Lloyd Pulley

Today we derive encouragement from Mark chapter nine, where Jesus not only dealt with the needs of His disciples, but performed several miracles as well. He took Peter, James and John with Him up to a high mountain and was transfigured before them.   He also later encountered a desperate father.  

Many of us have wondered what it will be like to see God as He is. As Christians, we're told that seeing Him face to face will be a reality one day in heaven.   But wouldn't it be nice to get a glimpse of that glory here on earth?   Peter, James, and John had that opportunity on a mountain one day and we'll take a look at their experience here on this edition of Bridging the Gap.

Jesus asked His disciples, "Who do you say that I am?"   That's a question He still asks of us, as we'll soon discover.   The world will give you all sorts of definitions of Jesus Christ - enlightened prophet, peace loving hippie, but they won't tell you who He really is - our Messiah - God in human flesh.  

Those of you who are familiar with Mark's gospel may recall the story of the feeding of the five thousand that we studied in chapter six.   Well, today we encounter a similar miracle.   Jesus is about to teach His disciples a valuable lesson on love and compassion.  

Lloyd is currently leading us on an exciting and challenging study through the miracles Jesus performed in the seventh chapter of the gospel of Mark. This account of the life of Jesus Christ is the shortest of the four gospels, but certainly contains many relevant lessons for us. We're going to be in the gospel of Mark,   chapter seven today, as we continue pastor Lloyd's series in Mark called "Jesus The Humble Servant". Today we'll once again concern ourselves with two things that go together - faith and healing.

What does it take to become right in God's sight?   People have wrestled over the answer to that question for centuries. But as we'll learn today on Bridging the Gap, there's only one way true righteousness is obtained.  

Today on Bridging the Gap we'll meet a few individuals who clung to their traditions, in lieu of Christ, and that spells disaster.   Pastor Lloyd Pulley is in the process of leading us through the Gospel of Mark in a series titled "Jesus The Humble Servant", and today we enter chapter seven where we find some Pharisees and Scribes gathered around Christ.

Today we're going to see what a real miracle is! Our scripture text is Mark chapter six. Jesus   has just fed five thousand people with five loaves of bread and two fish! As if that weren't miraculous enough, now he's going to walk on water! Now that's what I call a miracle!  

We'll be turning our attention to Mark chapter six today, where we see the heart of God and some valuable principles that can help us as we set out to serve God.   Approximately fifteen to twenty five thousand hungry people, and just five loaves and two fish.   The disciples of Christ saw this as a problem, but Jesus saw it as an opportunity.

Today on Bridging the Gap, pastor Lloyd Pulley challenges us to get past the fear of sharing the gospel and realize what's at stake.... people's eternal destiny! In the sixth chapter of Mark we find Jesus preparing His disciples for the ministry.   Lloyd has identified several principles from this passage that we can apply to our service to God.

Today, pastor Lloyd Pulley returns to the fifth chapter of Mark.   It's here that we read about a demon-possessed man who had incredible strength. Not even shackles could subdue him!   Then came Jesus, who brought about a remarkable change in his life.

Today pastor Lloyd Pulley continues his study of Mark's Gospel.  He'll point us to a confrontation between Jesus and a demon possessed man.   We don't know exactly how many demons were in this man, but obviously he was in tremendous torment.   But at his hour of greatest need, Jesus delivered him and brought new life and words of great encouragement. We find the details in Mark chapter five.

  Pastor Lloyd Pulley is currently leading us through the Gospel of Mark, in a series titled "Jesus The Humble Servant". At the end of chapter four, the disciples find themselves in a terrible storm.   The lesson they learned that day serves to help us endure the storms we are sure to come across in our lives.

Today, Pastor Lloyd will have us consider the Lord's words in Mark chapter four, verses twenty one through forty one. As believers who have been given the truth of the gospel message, we have a responsibility to share that truth with an unsaved world. Are you up for the challenge?

Pastor Lloyd Pulley enters Mark chapter six today. Let's find our place there now as we return to our study of Mark's Gospel, and a message titled "Hope For the Trampled Heart". We'll see that everyone is challenged to be prepared in and out of season to preach the Word as well as to give an answer to everyone who asks us for the hope we have.

Today we'll study Mark, chapter five and the story of a desperate woman who had been suffering with an incurable medical condition for over twelve years. And then in the midst of that desperation, she encounters God.

Unfortunately, many people are Christian in name only. It was true in Jesus' day as well, and that's why He shared the parable of the Sower. That will be our topic of discussion once again today as we look at Mark chapter four. Here Jesus describes four kinds of soil, and we'd do well to see which best describes our heart , to see whether or not we are who we think!  

The story of the sower and the seed illustrates for us that our hearts must be properly prepared in order to fully receive all that God has for us. Pastor Lloyd now takes us to Mark chapter four.

The man we're going to meet today on Bridging the Gap had a withered hand, but after he stepped out in faith, he experienced a wonderful touch from God. Our study of Mark takes us to the last several verses of chapter two and the beginning of chapter three, where the Pharisees are keeping a close eye on Jesus.

Today we bring you part two of pastor Lloyd's message, "Jesus the Great Physician" from Mark chapter two.  We know all about Jesus and His miraculous healing of physical maladies, but what about the healing we need in our hearts? Jesus has a plan for those problems as well.
