From tomorrow in Europe, the unified patent system will come into force. It means that innovators can submit a single application in order to protect or defend their inventions. It does away with a hodge podge system where patents had to be filed in many jurisdictions. Last week the health minister signed off on plans to print enhanced health labels on every bottle of wine sold in Ireland.
