Subscribe today for access to bonus episodes, exclusive content, and invitations to future livestreams! www.patreon.com/boysbiblestudy Can the concept of time travel even exist in Christianity? It allows mortals to control destiny and basically act like God. Seems inherently heretical, but that doesn't stop Christian creators from churning these things out. This is the third time travel film we've...

The long-running CBS drama Touched by an Angel spanned nine seasons in almost a decade. We tuned in to its later period and found this ideologically confusing gem of an episode in which a young Jewish cartoonist lashes out at her father by drawing anti-Semitic caricatures of him in the local paper. Her comic gets hugely popular, and everything seems fine until the wrong crowd misses the irony and...

Our most requested film to review is this sentimental drama about a "gang" of adolescent do-gooders who become estranged from their friend who spends some time away from the idyllic suburbs in the big bad city. The ButterCream Gang work a paper route, play baseball, know every adult in town, and somehow do the work of an entire police force on an average day. Meanwhile, their former friend Pete ju...

The nuclear family is under attack! Children are stolen from their parents to be kept as prisoners of the state! Government-issued drugs are making people lose their free will! This could never happen to me and my beautiful society, right? Wrong! The Kendrick brothers are some of the most accomplished Christian filmmakers, easily in league with other greats such as Kirk Cameron and Kevin Sorbo. We review the Kendricks' most recent film in which a Christian high school cuts all their sports teams except for cross country for some reason, even though only one girl is participating. This teen athlete, Hannah, is on a troubled life path until...

An all-star cast including Ja Rule, Adrienne Houghton (3LW), Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos), Toby Mac, and Stephen Baldwin grace this 2010s classic about a reformed gangster who is saved by the love of a cute church girl who works at a Christian bookstore. This Jehovah's Witness cinematic masterpiece is about a family falling apart as each member strays farther from the Truth. Most notably, teen son Marcus becomes a famous hiphop producer, and starts hanging around people who smoke extremely shitty weed. This well-paced and well-acted film contains all the trademarks of JW filmmaking, including a sharp critique of energy-draining work culture. Jehov...

Riverdale heartthrob KJ Apa stars in this brand new 2020 Christian film that is all aesthetics but soft on message. Unfortunately, his shirt stays on the whole time. Writer and musician Duncan Cooper, author of Heaven 24/7 (a daily newsletter about the lives of historical saints), joins us to discuss how I Still Believe illustrates the neoliberalisation of Christianity. We also talk Hillsong churc...

While in the hospital, he had a near death experience and visited actual Heaven, but came back to Earth to tell us about it. His story captivated the world, leading to a best-selling book that would eventually be adapted into this film in 2014. Our friend David of comedy team Loose Meat is an expert on t...

In one of our all time favorite films, a classic of Christian cinema, 6 strangers convene at a rickety restaurant in the middle of the woods called Last Chance Diner after a devilish police officer named Deville (hmm...) informs them the road up ahead is closed. Their orders are taken by a kindly man with a piercing gaze who somehow knows exactly what they want for dinner, as well as every sin the...

You could call this film Christian version of the Fast and the Furious, because it was also made in 2001 and features sick cars and wild stunts. However, in this film, the characters make it clear that street racing is NOT cool and it's actually a sin! Also, you shouldn't have sex. This was one of our favorite films we've ever watched for the podcast, and we're grateful to our listener who recomme...
