Bourbon Barrel Talk

The crew drinks through the recent release from Starlight Cigar batch. The three were unique releases, Bourbon finished in an Amburana Rum barrel, Bourbon finished in Amburana and Rye finished in Amburana. 

Scott and the crew, reviews three bottles sent in by Filibuster Distillery out of Virginia. We tried their Wheated bourbon, 5 yr Bottled in Bond, And French Oak Dual Cask. 

Ladies night, Scott is joined by Andy, Babs and Sarah to Review the Showdown between Russel's Reserve Rye SiB and EH Taylor Rye. The Russel's is their newer release of the rye single barrel.  Which do you prefer and why?

The crew sits down and reviews three bottles from IJW Whiskey Co. We review and discuss Old Emmer, their wheated bourbon. Bondstone Double Oaked and First Call finished in Port. 

The crew reviews Buffalo Trace Mashbills while discussing what makes the Bowman's so interesting. It's a blend of mashbill 1 and 2, sent to Virginia re-distilled and aged in Virginia.

Scott, Kofi, Nick and Babs, discuss and review Green River Distillery’s recent releases of the bourbon and wheated bourbon. We also extended a bit of our mashbill conversation from last weeks discussion. 

The crew discusses a bunch of different mashbills, so maybe you can find what bourbon you will like based off of your favorite pours. If you like Wild Turkey, Old Forester has a similar mashbill, you will probably like it. So on and so forth.

The crew painstakingly goes over a list of bourbons to come up with the best starter bourbon bunker for $300. We came up with 10 bourbons and ryes to give you a start. 

This week the crew discusses their most underrated bourbon and whiskeys. We decided underrated was something most people are overlooking for a multitude of reasons, proof, price, or unknown. 

The crew sits down and discusses the bottles they believe are the most overrated. After some discussion, we decided overrated meant too much hype for how the bottle tasted or the value of it. 

Scott and the crew reviews two new releases from the Lawrenceburg Bourbon Company. We tasted and discussed their first barrel strength bourbon and the 10 X 10 Rye. Both bottles unique in their own right. The 10 x 10 is 100% rye which really adds to the dynamic. 

Scott, the Brock's and Jared taste through and review the 5 recent Starlight distillery French Oak Toasted Bourbons. These five bottles came from barrels that the oak came from one of five regions of France.
