The crew reviews and discusses the most recent Down Home release their wheated bourbon finished in Armagnac casks. This LBC pick was released this fall. Robert continues his brands legacy for high quality releases and finished products.

In this episode in our holiday Series 8 Crazy Nights, the crew reviews three of the Goose Island Bourbon County Stouts. Knob Creek, Eagle Rare and Angels Envy. These three pours did not disappoint, and brought as much Tom Foolery as last years episodes did. 

Scott and Matt sit down with Sam at Bluegrass Distillers at the brand new visitor center on the Historic Elkwood Farm in Midway, KY. We discussed their brands, Contract distilling and what makes Blue corn unique in bourbon. Check them out at the visitor center the next time you’re in the area. 

The crew celebrates the 4 yr anniversary of the show with a visit to Old Forester. We get to speak with Tyler Mirt about what's new at Old Forester along with all the shenanigans that have occurred over the last 12 months. 

The crew reviews the WhistlePig Piggyback 6yr Rye and compares it to neat, proofed down and in a cocktail. Sarah made her take on an Old Fashioned, with a twist. 

Scott, AFC, Kofi and Johnny Tsunami, review this small batch release from Garrison Brothers. We hit most of the notes and was shocked to discover the Mashbill near the end of the episode. 

The crew sits down and reviews two Nikka Japanese Whiskeys. The Coffey Grain and Coffey Malt, both 90 proof whiskey with very unique flavor profiles. One is much more bourbonesque than the other, but both bring very sweet approachable flavors. 

Scott and the crew review the latest release from Barrell Bourbon, the Foundation number 5. This small batch release is comprised of four unique bourbons to bring forward a unique blend. Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee bourbons all provide a different profile that makes this a unique small batch bourbon.

Scott and the crew compares year 1 to year 2 of Starlight's Blood Moon Bloody Butcher Bourbon release. These are definitely different from any other offerings they have done in the past.  

Scott takes a spin at a fall/winter cocktail. The Apple Pie Old Fashioned is a fresh take on the classic. We made ours with 1.5 ounces Apple Cider, 1 ounce homemade apple syrup and 2 ounces of rye and 2 dashes of angostura bitters. Homemade syrup recipe 1 cup apple cider, 1 cup brown sugar, two dashes of cinnamon,  bring to boil, simmer for 5-10 minutes, bring back to quick boil, add a 1 teaspoon...

Scott and the crew reviews a bottle your own from Old Louisville Whiskey Company. Jon brings in a bottle he picked up through the bottle your own experience. This pour was a 51/49 bourbon. 51% corn, 49% malted barley. Check out Amine and his team at Old Louisville for an unique experience. 

Scott and the crew review the most recent Makers BEP release. We go through the tasting notes, our opinions and look for a fruity note that seemed to escape us.

The crew sits down and reviews Garrison Brothers 2023 Cowboy Bourbon release. This years release is the first Hazmat and really brings the flavor. We hope you enjoy our tasting notes and conversation. These bottles will run approximately $250 and each one is supposed to be hand signed by Donnis Todd Master Distiller and comes in a collectors case. 

The crew drinks through the recent release from Starlight Cigar batch. The three were unique releases, Bourbon finished in an Amburana Rum barrel, Bourbon finished in Amburana and Rye finished in Amburana. 

Scott and the crew, reviews three bottles sent in by Filibuster Distillery out of Virginia. We tried their Wheated bourbon, 5 yr Bottled in Bond, And French Oak Dual Cask. 

Ladies night, Scott is joined by Andy, Babs and Sarah to Review the Showdown between Russel's Reserve Rye SiB and EH Taylor Rye. The Russel's is their newer release of the rye single barrel.  Which do you prefer and why? 

The crew sits down and discusses and reviews the Wilderness Trail 8 yr Wheated Bottled in Bond. This was a neat discussion around how different and special this pour is. These will be available in late August throughout the state of Kentucky. 

The crew sits down and reviews three bottles from IJW Whiskey Co. We review and discuss Old Emmer, their wheated bourbon. Bondstone Double Oaked and First Call finished in Port. 

The crew reviews Buffalo Trace Mashbills while discussing what makes the Bowman's so interesting. It's a blend of mashbill 1 and 2, sent to Virginia re-distilled and aged in Virginia.

Scott, Kofi, Nick and Babs, discuss and review Green River Distillery’s recent releases of the bourbon and wheated bourbon. We also extended a bit of our mashbill conversation from last weeks discussion. 

The crew discusses a bunch of different mashbills, so maybe you can find what bourbon you will like based off of your favorite pours. If you like Wild Turkey, Old Forester has a similar mashbill, you will probably like it. So on and so forth.

Scott and the crew sits down and reviews two bottles from McCracken Curve Distillery. Homeplace Indiana Straight Bourbon and Ballyloughan Castle their American Single Malt. 

The crew painstakingly goes over a list of bourbons to come up with the best starter bourbon bunker for $300. We came up with 10 bourbons and ryes to give you a start.
