"LET THEM FIGHT." In 2010 -- 12 years after America's last failed adaptation and 6 years after Japan's final entry -- Legendary Pictures (and by extension Warner Bros.) proudly announced that they had acquired the rights to make a new Hollywood adaptation of the King of the Monsters, releasing a faithful piece of concept art in tandem. However, what started out and was advertised as a film seeming...

TO THE MEETING ROOMS WE GO! Our ATLA intermission is over, back to the Godzillathon ! It's been a while since we visited our good friend Hideaki Anno, and now it's finally time to take a look at what he cooked up during the lost years between Eva 3.0 and 3.0+1.0 . As Anno struggled with his mental health while trying to get his final Evangelion movie into production, Toho approached him and direct...

"I'M A LITTLE TEA! POT! SHORT! AND! STOUT!" The boys decided to take a quick intermission from the Godzillathon in light of a very special occasion: yet another (likely) bad live action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender has arrived! And what better way to lament the mistakes of the present than to dwell on the mistakes of the past? The 2010 film adaptation of one of the most acclaimed TV se...

INTO THE INFERNO! After sitting through The Last Airbender for the sole purpose of synergy with the new adaptation, we had to desperately wash the taste out of our mouths. Luckily, we had both caught up to the series finale of Avatar , so we figured, why not go all-in for a double feature this week? The show's finale is highly acclaimed and has a lot to love, but will certain critiques that have c...

THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER MADE. Despite it bringing about some of the best films in the whole franchise, the Millennium Era of Godzilla had already lost steam at the box office a short four years after it started. So, with the King of the Monsters' 50th Anniversary only one year away, Toho decided it was time to mark the occasion by closing the book on him once again. However, they wouldn't go quiet...

BRING BACK TACHIBANA, COWARDS! We have now arrived at the Millennium Era of the Godzillathon, and we're kicking it off with a classic that neither of us have seen in full! The film dubbed GMK by the fanbase has usually circled the upper echelon in peoples' rankings, but what do the boys think of it? Come watch with Brian and Alec to find out as they take a look at the wildly-different Godzilla, Mo...

"THAT'S A LOT OF FISH!" * AUDIENCE CLAPS, CRIES, AND THROWS UP* Near the end of the Heisei Era -- and supposedly Godzilla in general -- Toho decided to see what Hollywood could do with the King of the Monsters, selling the filmmaking rights to Sony's TriStar Pictures. What started off as a promising and faithful project helmed by Jan de Bont soon spiraled and degraded over the course of five years...

THE WORLD'S MOST CATASTROPHIC CASE OF HEARTBURN. After 40 years and two distinct eras of nonstop Godzilla, Toho decided that 1995 would serve as the character's final curtain call. They wanted to give the King of the Monsters a fitting conclusion, and what would be more fitting than tying back to where it all began? So, come watch with Brian and Alec as they revisit the end of the Heisei Era and w...

YOU SHOULD BRING BACK M-11... NOW! We have now moved into the Heisei Era in our Godzillathon, and the one we've picked out for today was an absolute no-brainer. King Ghidorah had been revered as Godzilla's greatest adversary for years, but how did his reinvention for a new era fare? Come watch with Brian and Alec to find out as they revisit a tale of time travel, dinosaurs, and Terminators in 1991...

HAHA, NICE . Continuing on with our Godzillathon, we take our last look at the Showa Era with one of its most iconic entries. For nearly fifty years, Mechagodzilla has been one of the most popular kaiju ever created, as well as one of Godzilla's greatest adversaries, but how did his debut fare? Come watch with Brian and Alec to find out as they revisit the original Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla !

OUR FIRST MARATHON OF 2024 BEGINS! Happy New Year everyone! We're finally back from our holiday hiatus, and to kick off 2024, we decided it was time to start our first marathon of the year. The boys have been fans of the King of the Monsters ever since they were kids, and with the recent release of Minus One and the looming release of The New Empire , they figured it was high time to look back at...

"PUT THAT COOKIE DOWN! NOW!" Happy Holidays, everyone! We're at our last (albeit pre-recorded from weeks in advance) commentary track of the year, and we figured it's finally time to dive into some Christmas flicks! While we don't have time to do more than one, we have landed on an underrated Arnie classic, chalk full of consumerism, psychotic fever dream sequences of comedy, and the greatest supe...

"SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE!" After the controversial reception to Chris Chibnall's Thirteenth Doctor era of the show, Russell T Davies returned to helm the next one, beginning with the 60th Anniversary specials as a buffer before going into full swing with a brand new Doctor. This heralded the return of David Tennant, not as the Tenth, but as the Fourteenth Doctor, alongside f...

"DOCTOR... I LET YOU GO." The 60th Anniversary Specials of Doctor Who are finally in full swing, so before November ends, we have one last trilogy to revisit. Despite various circumstances stacked against him, such as unfair preconceptions and people growing tired of Moffat's storytelling style, Peter Capaldi had made his mark as a truly fantastic incarnation of titular Time Lord, and has only gro...

"I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER WHEN THE DOCTOR WAS ME." Despite having a few more critiques from fans than Tennant's run, Matt Smith's tenure as the Eleventh Doctor took the show to previously unseen heights. The first to broadcast simultaneously in numerous countries alongside the UK, Smith's fairy-tale-esque era brought the show even deeper into the mainstream, and despite initial hostility, his Doctor...

"I DON'T WANT TO GO." Happy Doctor Who month everyone! Hard to believe it's been ten years since the 50th anniversary in 2013, let alone this being the 60th. Just like last time, the big celebration is set to culminate with yet another regeneration, so the boys figured it was high time to revisit the old favorites. David Tennant's era of the show is often-regarded as the best, but did the ending d...

NO MARKIPLIER, 0/10! Happy Halloween everyone! Nearly ten years ago, the world was introduced to what would become the most popular and successful indie games of all time (if not THE most), Five Nights at Freddy's . YouTube videos, fan works, let's plays, all of these propelled the franchise high enough to strike a deal for a live-action film. Unfortunately -- or fortunately, depending who you are...

DO YA WANNA PAAARTAAAY? It wouldn't be a proper horror marathon this spooky season without a zombie movie, and Brian picked a properly insane one. A lot of the modern-day zombie tropes all originate from this classic '80's horror-comedy, so how does the source for all the cliches fare nowadays? Come watch with Brian and Alec to find out as they take a look at John Russo and Dan O'Bannon's The Retu...

IT SEEMS THERE IS AN IMPOSTOR AMONG US. After paying homage to it in the original Halloween , John Carpenter decided to make his mark once again by doing his own unique remake of The Thing from Another World , itself based on the John W. Campbell novel Who Goes There? What resulted was a dlightfully sickening and twisted display of horror, paranoia, and practical VFX which wouldn't fully be apprec...

AKA "BRO FELL ASLEEP FIRST AT THE SLEEPOVER." Now that we've fully moved into the spooky season, it's time to look at some scary movies OTHER than the ones we just saw (haha). So to kick off our randomized horror marathon leading up to Five Nights at Freddy 's, we figured we should start with the other notable horror icon of the same name. Wes Craven changed the landscape of fear through the intro...

OH GOD, IT'S NOT OVER YET. Our DCEUneral Screenings may have ended months ago, but there is one more chapter that we must trudge through. That being the film we were leading up to in the first place, Andy Muschietti's The Flash . Few words can truly describe how massive the failure of this project was, and unfortunately, it's time for us to bring out the multiversal AI generated CGI horse for yet...

CHRIS ROCK'S SAW FANFIC COME TO LIFE! While Lionsgate was planning an eventual sequel to Jigsaw , everything seemed to change when one of their top producers met the most surprising Saw fan at a wedding: one Chris Rock. He made a small pitch for a new movie, and the ball immediately got rolling, whether he intended for it or not. So, with a returning Darren Lynn Bousman, an opportunity at a fresh...

LASERS GO BRR. Despite it ending over half a decade ago, Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures suddenly felt like it was time to revive the Saw franchise. How did they go about this? By stripping all the style and injecting some Wheden-type comedic one-liners. Oh boy. Come continue the MaraSAWn with Brian and Alec as they take a look at arguably the most forgettable chapter of the franchise, Jigsaw !

THE ONE WHERE EVERYONE REPLACED THEIR BLOOD WITH PEPTO. Despite having the perfect opportunity to end the franchise with Saw VI , Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures sought to squeeze out one more, with the extra gimmick that every sizable film from 2010 onward had to have: 3D. Yes, even the Saw franchise wasn't immune to Jim Cameron's unintended influence, and it's put to use here about as well as a m...

MORAL OF THE STORY: DON'T WORK IN HEALTH INSURANCE. After the terrible reception to Saw V , Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures finally started to realize that it was time to end the franchise. However, they wanted to squeeze in one more film before doing so, and looking back, it might've served as a better ending. With long-time series editor Kevin Greutert taking the directorial reigns, how exactly d...
