Bookalicious Pod

The sisters journey back-in-time to a not so different past of 1800's England. This listener recommended book is complex, deep, and full of important discussion topics! Disclaimer, we are self-identified Letty's and do our best to navigate important topics on racism, classism, and colonialism. We aren't experts but these are our thoughts and we are open to hear your thoughts as well. Thanks to our...

Hi bookalicious girlies! We get off to a slow start with our Babel recap, which is fitting as this is a meandering novel, as we only cover our Author recap + a 15 minute detour into my (Candice's) Lasik eye surgery story. You may say, wow we wanted a recap of the book not your medical mysteries. To that I say, you're welcome. You will need the extra time to read and work through the episod...

In this EMERGENCY episode, Bookalicious Pod has you covered on everything you need to know about our Queen, Freida McFadden's, REAL identity as Dr. Sara Cohen!! In this much needed author recap, news anchor Candice fights her way through the crowds to gather all of the important details on our favorite thriller writer. Covered in this episode: Dr. Freida in Braintree What is a physiatrist? Ope...

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK! The sisters have once again been outfoxed by Freida McFadden. How did the not guess that Daisy was only spiritually dead to Tom & not physically dead and has been masquerading as Gretchen? How were they dumb enough to think that there are two weirdo men in this book obsessed with bugs that were unrelated? The sisters break down all the plot points and add a new metri...

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK In Part 2 of The Boyfriend, the closeted Allison/Miranda of our Sex & the City gang is killed. Why? Because Tom stabbed his deadbeat dad and Allison saw Tom & Slug rolling the dead deadbeat dad’s body into their sedan.  Slug rises the ranks as the most likely serial killer as he knew right away how to clean up a dead body, how many garbage bags were needed to line...

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK The sisters journey back to the voice-to-text queen of thrillers, Freida McFadden (said with the utmost respect) The book oscillates between some time in the past that feels like the 50s and present day. The past section follows four teenage students - Daisy, Tom, Allison, & Slug. It is clear Tom is a psychopath in training who is only outweirded by his brofriend Slug...

Before the sisters can close the book on The Silent Patient, they attempt to do a quick 15 minute chat on the morality of novel. As usual, this takes 40 minutes to cover Aussie Correspondent asks the important question on Theo's character arc - Theo appeared to be a rehabilitated person from abuse. However, by the end of the book we find that he is unable to escape his past and becomes an abus...

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK The sisters wrap up the Silent Patient and give it a perfect 5 stars! The twist was twisty and most importantly a careful eye would have been able to solve the psycho the whole time was……*****!  The sisters wonder what drove Gabe to cheat on Alicia - did he feel trapped into a caretaker role he didn’t want? Was he after Alicia’s money? Or was he an insecure man who was je...

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK While Part 2 left the sisters thinking Reese Witherspoon’s debut novel would land between a 4 & a 5, the final third of the book goes off the rails into pure chaos resulting in a 3.2 star rating.  Where things went wrong: Nadia’s tattoo was FAKE!
