Maybe there is no "cheering up" or "distracting", but just simply getting through them. We know there is no fixing it, but it truly...

Lessons Learned the Hard Way on How to Talk to Someone That is Grieving 04.12.2023 43:57
This is a tough one. After my husband died, I had a lot of people reach out in well-intentioned ways. I give examples of things to say and not to say, and most importantly WHY. Ask yourself: Am I doing this to make the grieving person feel better, or am I doing this to make myself feel better? Treat others how THEY want to be treated. I encourage grievers to give grace (within reason) but also tak...

How Sunny Mary Meadow Got its Name 30.11.2023 11:07
Grief can affect us in many ways. I use my perspective of loving, losing, and moving forward to help people simply develop more of an understanding of grief. From understanding comes empathy, and that’s a step in the right direction of being considerate of other’s feelings. Equally as important, I share the lessons I learned after widowhood in giving grace to those that didn’t know what to say or...

Welcome to Bloom & Grow 21.11.2023 7:32
Welcome to the Bloom & Grow podcast where we share stories of those who have grown through grief and break down barriers that isolate us in those challenging parts of our lives. We know that time doesn’t heal, but intention does. There isn’t a before and after in grief, but we grow through it – many days more difficult than others. People often don’t know what to say to a young widow, and talk...
