I had the honor of chatting with the surgeon and President of Howard University, Dr. Wayne Frederick. Talk about inspiring!!! He shares with us his early days in Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹; diagnosed with sickle cell disease, to graduating from medical school at age 22, becoming a surgeon and ultimately president of the prestigious Howard University.

On today's BMWC podcast episode we meet Dr. Ty! Dr. Tyeese Gaines (AKA Dr. Ty) is well known for carving out her own path in life. She pursued her first love, Medicine becoming a board certified Emergency Physician BUT do you believe she did all this while pursuing a Masters, career in Journalism and raising her son!?! Very cool story showing us it is possible to do great things.

Student doctor Chris had no clue medicine was right for him until a program opened his eyes. Growing up in West Philly, he was blessed to have a supportive family. He hopes to give back to his community and become the first doctor in the family. He's got one year of med school down and before you know it, he'll be rockin' that long white coat. We also share our next MCAT scholarship recipient.

Our question this week is: "Should underrepresented minorities with lower MCAT scores be considered higher because they are minorities?"
