Bitcoin Rapid-Fire

Bitcoin is the future of money, that is my firm belief. I use this show to learn more about this phenomenon, and its various implications, from some of the brightest minds in the space, and beyond. I'm not trying to educate or inform anyone, I'm sharing my own journey of attempting to understand bitcoin, and delving in to some of the less obvious, but incredibly profound, aspects of its emergence in the global culture.

The Bitcoiner Book club is an opportunity for some thoughtful bitcoiners to come together to discuss and share insights from some of the books which most shaped or impacted our thinking on economics, money, bitcoin, history, politics and more.   The bitcoiners participating reached out to me to join the discussion because the book being discussed was particularly impactful for them, and they...

BITCOIN AND SCARCITY: A MEDITATION w/ Reed Womack 04.08.2020

Reed Wommack is the Head of Customer Support at Swan Bitcoin, and recently published an interesting piece entitled 'Accepting Scarcity: A Bitcoin Meditation'. He hit me up on twitter and said "Hey man, I'd like to come on and discuss Bitcoin and Scarcity'. BITCOIN AND BEHAVIOUR CHANGE w/ Dr. Mark Stephany 30.07.2020

On any given night, when I have the time and inclination, I post an invite on twitter for a discussion about bitcoin. I tell anyone who is interested to DM me. I pick the first DM that comes in, and 5 minutes later we are on a livestream talking about bitcoin:)   I love these 'informal' interviews because they allow me to connect with the many great bitcoiners spread out all over the world, s...

BITCOINER BOOK CLUB #1 - The Sovereign Individual 24.07.2020

In this first episode of 'Bitcoiner Book Club', we discuss 'The Sovereign Individual', which analyzes the evolution of human civilization through the lens of how technological innovation impacts the 'logic of violence'. Written in 1997, and read in 2020, one is struck by the unbelievable predictive accuracy of the book, which among other things, serves to reinforce the validity of the underlying t...

BITCOIN SAVED MY LIFE w/ @My_Livin_Truth 12.07.2020

This was a fun one. One of the peculiarities of bitcoin is the number of anonymous accounts on twitter with whom people interact. It's nothing sinister, some people just take a different approach to privacy than others. 'Optimus Fields' (@My_Livin_Truth) is one of them, and also the co-host of a relatively new podcast "Bitcoin Kidnergarten". Anyways, I've had several interactions with Optimus on t...

Obi Nwosu: Bitcoin Gives Everyone a Chance 10.07.2020

Obi is the CEO and Co-Founder of Coinfloor, the UK's longest-running bitcoin exchange. He's an extremely dedicated and principled bitcoiner and entrepreneur, with a fascinating background and several unique insights on technology, money, politics and many of the current events the world is grappling with today. More than all of that, he's just a good dude who I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with. Ho...

BITCOIN AND PSYCHEDELICS With Brandon Quittem 07.07.2020

Brandon Quittem is the author of the excellent series comparing the similarities between bitcoin and the structure of mycelial/fungal networks. It was extremely well-received and is now believed by many to be 'required reading' for anyone attempting to understand the depth, impact and complexity of bitcoin.   I've had the pleasure of having a number of conversations with Brandon over the past...

Bitcoin and Black Lives Matter: Is Racism the Root Problem? 05.07.2020

Isaiah Jackson is the author of the book 'Bitcoin and Black America'.   Aleks Svetski is the founder of The Amber App, an app that allows users to make regular purchases of bitcoin (Dollar Cost Average), as well as an outspoken critic of the 'Black Lives Matter' movement and other collectivist ideologies.   As with so many social issues these days, it seems as though conversations which discuss bo...

@Croesus_BTC: Bitcoin and the Technology Adoption Life Cycle - Where are we now? 01.07.2020

@Croesus_BTC is an anonymous account on twitter who released a thought-provoking analysis of bitcoin's growth and adoption, through the lens of a standard technology adoption curve, with comparison to specific historical examples.   Interestingly, a key component of bitcoin's architecture, the 4-year reward-halving cycle, was used as the length of time for each standard deviation of the propo...

Gene Epstein Round 2: Calculating the Consumer Price Index (CPI) & the Effects of Money Printing 30.06.2020

We exist in a time of unprecendented government spending and expansion of central bank balance sheets. This is a nice way of saying 'money printing'. The myriad negative impacts of money printing are becoming increasingly understood by people around the world today, but assessing and measuring those effects remains a contentious issue shrowded in complexity.   The CPI is the metric used by go...

Bitcoiners in the Wild: @HodlerThanThou 22.06.2020

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been recording daily live-streams with random bitcoiners. If I have an hour or two, I post on twitter to see if anyone would like to hop on a stream, and I go with the first DM that comes in. In today’s episode of what I’m affectionately referring to as ‘Bitcoiners in the Wild’, I sit down with Sir Badminton of Bitcoin (@HodlerThanThou), for a discussion about hi...

CTRL PEW: The Latest on the 3D Printed Gun Revolution 09.06.2020

Ctrl Pew is an expert in the realm of 3D printed guns. I think at this point everyone has heard the term, but relatively few people are familiar with the state and development of the technology. I was recently surprised to learn how quickly it was evolving, so I thought it was finally time to speak with someone who could explain it all to me.  3D printed guns, like bitcoin, represent a tool f...

Bheki Mahlobo: Bitcoin in South Africa 01.06.2020

Bheki Mahlobo is a student at the University of South Africa, majoring in economics. He was recently featured in the documentary “Banking on Africa: The Bitcoin Revolution", on Amazon Prime Video. I’m very interested in how bitcoin is both perceived and used in different parts of the world, and had not yet spoken to anyone in South Africa about it, so I thought Bheki would be the perfect one...

The Bitcoin Renaissance - Internal Change 29.05.2020

This episode is a recording of a panel I recently hosted at the 'Value of Bitcoin Digital' conference. In nearly all of my conversations, my guests explain how interacting with bitcoin has changed their behaviour patterns, often in fundamental ways. On the surface, this seems like a curious phenomenon, however once you begin to understand how the money we use affects our behaviour, it begins to be...

Erik Cason: Bitcoin is Messianic 22.05.2020

I was recently listening to the Citizen Bitcoin podcast (one of my favourites) and Erik Cason was the guest. I was enthralled by how Erik was articulating so many profound thoughts, strung together one after the other, in an extremely open and genuine manner. As soon as the interview ended, I was super excited to have my own conversation with Erik, so I DM'd him on Twitter and invited him on the s...

Emil Standstedt is the author of the book “Money Dethroned: A Historical Journey. He also writes about the history of money at his blog bdratings.org. In his writings, Emil has highlighted many of the irresponsible and reckless treatments of money in past era’s. Zuby: Bitcoin Just Makes Sense 06.05.2020

Zuby is a rapper, author, coach and all-around free-thinking individual. He’s not afraid to speak his mind, nor change his mind if new information or perspectives dictate it’s rational to do so. These qualities always draw me to people. It reflects a mind that is open to learning, and not overtaken by popular ideologies or socio-cultural narratives. I’m even more intrigued, when such a perspective...

Brandon released part 4 of his series this week, which is titled 'Bitcoin is a Catalyst for Human Evolution (Symbiosis)'.  As it turns out, both my...

Explaining Bitcoin to Traditional Investors 24.04.2020

This is a re-publish of an interview I did on ‘The Canadian Investor’ podcast last week. I decided to share it here because I was curious to see if it would be a good resource for people who have not yet begun their journey down the proverbial bitcoin ‘rabbit-hole’. The two hosts come from a traditional investing background, and are not very familiar with bitcoin. However, they were receptive to w...
