Bit Storm

Ben and Trevor are back at it, imagining a horde shooter where your only method of communication is random noises, an open world sea monster game, a meringue based platformer, a sprawling adventure set in the world of board games, a competitive goat-based king of the mountain game, and a stealthy restaurant patron with high class tastes.

In our notable 50th episode, Ben and Trevor pitch game designs involving an itchy actor trying to keep it under control, an egg council lobbyist just trying to make a living, what happens when humans stay in VR for too long, a bullet hell shooter where you control a pair of wings, mouse commandos, and the tragic tale of a child and their cat.

Ben and Trev welcome the Inconsolables back to the pod, and they bring a mysterious new third member. They drunkenly all play a rousing game of Click Pitch and come up with games including a fruit based porn movie, CSI Paddle boats and a Rube Goldberg machine that punches Hitler in the face. Recorded live in the Inconsolables hotel room, the week before PAX.

We give a salute to the poorly under-used Waluigi and try to find him a game, crap on about Judge Dredd for a while, create a domestic stealth game starring a kid trying to make mischief, revel in the violent aftermath of PAX, imagine an undercover cop trying to stay honest, an exhibitionist paramedic, and imagine modern sequels to Space Quest and Captain Comic.

Yummy!

Ben and Trevor had the privilege of recording at the Audio Technica booth, on the convention floor @ PAX. Get your popcorn ready and switch off your mobile phones, cos Ben and Trevor are going to the movies. They warm up with some Click Pitch and then dive into some movie tie in games. The games include the children of Robin Hood and Little John on opposite sides of the law, a VR game based within the Anchorman universe and a creaky game about living as a house.

Ben is back in the Bit Storm basement, and he and Trevor jump straight back into some Click Pitch resulting in games about giants cooking humans in the sun, grammar teachers who love it when you are incorrect, a VR computer building challenge with frustrating limitations, selectively breeding sportspeople to up their game, and a presidential VR thumb fiddling simulation. Ben and Trevor are back in the saddle, kinda anyway. In the last episode of Bit Drizzle before Ben returns from Canada, they talk about games that don’t exist yet, like a Life Saving simulator, a VR hunting game where you control the animals and a bizarre reality where messages are passed through the body like a Postal service.

Dan Ryan of the Game Club Podcast joins Trevor in this episode of Bit Storm, as Ben is still not back from Canada. Although there were a few internet disruptions this episode made it over the line and contains numerous references to morality systems, broken down observatory equipment and aliens invading our living rooms.

Sam Harkin, of Vivid Geekcast and Super Hype Train, joins Trevor in this unprecedented second guest hosted episode in a row. He brings a real fun energy and they come up with a VR Croquet simulator with a horror edge, a Stardew Valley rip off and a VR Hibachi chef simulator.

Trevor welcomes Pete Curulli of Game On Australia fame back to play some more Click Pitch. They get a little silly with ideas such as a Hijacker with a heart of gold, a musical theatre game with quicktime mechanics, pooping zebras and a Player Unknown's Battlegrounds inspired office scavenger game. All this and more.
