The Montana men's basketball team drilled Idaho State 78-54 in the Big Sky Conference home opener for the Grizzlies on December 30, 2021. Following the Griz moving to 2-1 in league play, UM head coach Travis DeCuire addressed the media. 

Montana State went on the road and posted a 42-19 win over No. 1 and previously undefeated Sam Houston to advance to the semifinals of the FCS Playoffs for the second year in a row.  The victory served as MSU's first true road win in the FCS playoffs.
