The gift of rest is a gift to become like Jesus, the perfect model of Sabbath-keeping, who often let people down at a rate they could handle. Jesus, the wisest and perfect human, valued holy rest with God so much that he was well-attuned with the word no. Jesus said no, and if Jesus can say no, so can we.

We were not created to be machines; we are designed to be like God. Humans are not automatons but divine reflections. Every cell in our body beats to the same drumbeat—a rhythm that was first strummed by God over the waters of creation. In this teaching, we are invited to labour hard and rest easy, just like God does.

God cares for both your body and your soul. He does not only desire to redeem our bodies, but he also desires to liberate us from our fears, doubts, and anxieties.
