Followers of Jesus are not to live in slavery, but by the Spirit through faith, which leads to Gospel freedom!

Paul confronts Peter about hypocrisy and living like a Gentile but forcing others to live like Jews. He gets back to the true Gospel that we are only justified by faith in Christ Jesus.

This passage shows us that it's too easy to fall into either extreme: adding too much to the Gospel and ending up in legalism and slavery, or not holding firmly enough to the Gospel and allowing it to be twisted or watered down. Gospel freedom isn't a middle path, but a third path.

Jesus changes people, plans, and purpose. We exist for a reason, to know God and make him known. Let the Lord direct your steps instead of planning your ways.

Paul gives us brief, worshipful, greeting to the Galatian church and then dives right into the ways that some have distorted the gospel. Jesus is the only way to salvation. Don’t distort the gospel.

Those who know they are forgiven much will also forgive others much. Jesus said forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors.

While at first glance the parable seems to be about the importance of actions over words, a deeper dive shows that Jesus is addressing a larger context about how our response to earthly authority reveals our response to heavenly authority.

Like leaven/yeast, we need something outside of us (the gospel/Jesus) to get inside us, and transform us from the inside out.

Jesus gives us the parable of the net to help show us that the reality we live in is not the ultimate reality, but that everyone will have an eternal destiny in heaven or hell.

Jesus commends the shrewd manager who used unrighteous means for righteous results. Believers are called to use whatever means God has given us to “make heaven crowded.”

The Pharisee and the tax collector both go up into the temple to pray. One prayer is only focused on self, while the other one is humble and repentant. Jesus says to go low and humble yourself rather than trying to justify yourself.
