Ben and Eric’s Podcast

Tv EN ↓ 109 episodes

Hello everyone! I’m Ben, and I’m Eric, and we are cousins. On our podcast we discuss one movie and one tv show per episode. Each episode Ben and Eric review the movie and anything related to it. Eric specializes in tv, and every show we review he has watched in full. So for the tv section Ben watches the first few episodes of the show, and discusses his impressions with Eric. By the end of the episode, Ben decides if he will continue to watch or not. We hope you enjoy our podcast, and we appreciate any and all support!

In the episode recorded after the award show we will tally up the points and declare a winner. Ple...

Ep 32: Ferrari & Slow Horses 07.01.2024

Hope... hope is not lost on today's ep. The holiday movies have been under scrutiny but one has shown its true colors and our hosts are pleased. Ferrari is Michael Mann's first feature since 2015 and we are very happy with his debut on the podcast. Our hosts talk spoilers at 30:40 and resume the show (44:54) with Slow Horses. British TV once again showers our hosts in rainy days and talent...

Ep 31: May December & Scavenger's Reign 31.12.2023

Is it Oscar bait? An Oscar contender? May December is in the crosshairs this episode, and our hosts let you know their secret on how to enjoy this movie to the fullest extent. Then Scavenger's Reign, a quietly released limited series on HBO, takes a hold of our hosts and doesn't let go. And for our most loyal listeners, find out what Ben really has to say about martinis after trying one fo...

Ep 29: The Holdovers & A Charlie Brown Christmas 18.12.2023

It’s a holidays pod! These two Jews take on Christmas this year with a jolly attitude and warm hearts. And if you’re wondering what on earth our hosts could argue over while (29:50) Charlie Brown is on, just you wait. You can buy the Holdovers on major streaming platforms, and you can watch A Charlie Brown Christmas on Apple TV+. This podcast is hosted and produced by Eric Nerenberg and Ben Dorsey...

Ep 28 Classics: Gone Girl 10.12.2023

Fincher is back! This classic isn't so old, but you can put this film up against the best of the best. Our hosts dive deep into the directing, acting, and plot of the movie, plus the legacy of Fincher's movies in the modern era. And after all that, special guest and generous sponsor Eric Tecosky of Dirty Sue joins our hosts for a very special ad read. You can rent Gone Girl on major stream...

Ep 27: The Killer & Happy Valley 05.12.2023

If Tyler Durden is a toxic male idol for Ben's generation, then Michael Fassbender in The Killer is that toxic male idol for Eric's generation. Fincher is finally on the pod with his newest Netflix release and our hosts are very excited. Then, British TV keeps its glorious run on the podcast alive. Happy Valley is a Yorkshire crime drama with a big heart and some nasty violence that would...

Ep 26: Priscilla & Special Ops: Lioness 26.11.2023

Thank god for this guest today offering something our hosts could never, a woman's perspective. What a sausage fest it would have been without her. Caraline argues her well researched facts and articulates her feelings while her boyfriend stumbles through a google doc with his half-baked ideas strewn randomly. (51:24) Caraline leaves just in time for Ben to explain the male gaze to Eric while...

Ep 25: Killers of the Flower Moon & Atlanta 19.11.2023

We're finally doing Scorsese! Marty's most recent release is the subject of the most influential pod in film and TV. Finally, right? Our hosts take the opportunity to gush while learning about what this movie is and what it means to people. (43:17) Atlanta is the show, so get ready for two white guys from the northeast to take on a dramedy about race in Atlanta! But really our hosts can&#3...

Ep 24: Flora and Son & Drops of God 12.11.2023

If this episode were a boat, Eric would have grounded it. It wouldn't be sunk, but damn near close. His intentions were pure when choosing this movie, but maybe his on-air martini skewed his judgement of it (we'll never know for sure). John Carney's most recent writer/director piece is underachieving to say the least. For the TV section (24:02), our hosts are joined by family member an...

Ep 23 Classics: Fantastic Mr. Fox 05.11.2023

It's a family reunion! Newlywed and film enthusiast Julie Roberts joins the pod as our first guest ever! Today's episode is about one of all of our personal favorites, Fantastic Mr. Fox. We talk everything beautiful about this movie, all-star performances, and Wes Anderson's filmography. This feels like a good time to mention we absolutely love listener interaction and feedback. So, if...

Ep 22: Spooky Special: Halloween 29.10.2023

Nothing can prepare you for the end of this episode 😳. Get in the spooky season mood, it's a Halloween special! John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) is the subject of today's ep. It took lies and deceit but Ben actually got Eric to see a scary movie (he'll never forgive him). This pod is hosted by Eric Nerenberg and host/producer Ben Dorsey. Buy/rent Halloween on major streaming plat...

Ep 21: Bottoms & Perry Mason 22.10.2023

Ben and Eric are like neighbors screaming at each other over the white picket fence on this pod. They dug their trenches deep and are in an unceasing conflict over what they think of Bottoms. Please don't pick sides, we're all one big family at the end of the day, we'll get through this. Dead Baby??? Perry Mason (27:27) brings our hosts back into the same boat, and Eric flexes the hell out of his...

Ep 19: Past Lives & Succession 07.10.2023

If you were already sick of our voices, get ready to get sick of our faces. This ep has broken down barriers, Ben was actually more excited to talk about the TV show than the movie⁉️ Find out what our hosts think about the buzzing directorial debut from Celine Song. We heard you guys on instagram again, and hit series Succession is on the pod! Months past the buzz of the fourth season, our hosts s...

Ep 18: Babylon & The Bear 01.10.2023

Let your voice be heard! Our wonderful fans chose this episode's TV show, and they came through with an all time pick. Our hosts loved recording this episode so much, they did it twice! New technology is a peach... Hollywood's soft white underbelly is in the limelight as Ben and Eric try to keep their discussion shy of the 3 hour run time of this epic. Ben is breaking the fourth wall--> I'm about...

Ep 17 Classics: Lawrence of Arabia 25.09.2023

There’s something about this pod that they didn’t like…, they enjoyed it. Ben and Eric stop in the desert on their blood soaked pod-path through the film industry, past and present. This classic receives the recognition it deserves as our hosts look forward to conquer the next film. This pod is hosted by Eric Nerenberg alongside host/producer Ben Dorsey. You can rent Lawrence of Arabia on most maj...

Ep 16: The Worst Person In The World & Somebody Somewhere 19.09.2023

You might have noticed that the long winded segments tend to be the ones Ben feels he *really* has to say something. This episode is the perfect example of this. Our hosts’ sails are full in the movie section, and nice and concise when discussing the show. Find out who exactly the worst person in the world is on this episode. Ben and Eric’s podcast is hosted by Eric Nerenberg and host/producer Ben...

Ep 15 Classics: Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid 13.09.2023

Morons, I have morons on my pod… Eric looks like the captain of the Harvard debate club the way he dismantles Ben’s arguments. A classic is put under the lamp of scrutiny and gets out without a scratch, it’s hard to find a flaw with this film. You can stream Butch Cassidy on Max, this podcast is hosted by Eric Nerenberg alongside host/producer Ben Dorsey. Thanks for tuning in, we’ll see you next t...

Ep 14: RRR & Reservation Dogs 07.09.2023

Our hosts explore unfamiliar lands and talk two productions that might have flown under your radar. RRR is India’s highest grossing film globally in 2022 and a thrill ride of independence, action, and touching pride. Reservation Dogs is wrapping up it’s third and final season as we speak. It follows a group of Native American teens trying to escape the world they grew up in. Taking a page from the...

Ep 13: Triangle of Sadness & The Diplomat 01.09.2023

Vomit Piss and Shit! Ruben Östlund’s seasick class drama is in the spotlight and it stands unapologetically proud of itself. Then Deborah Cahn’s fast talking political thriller takes our hosts across the pond to Britain. Eric is in his wheelhouse with a Sorkin-esque drama starring one of his favorites Keri Russell. You can stream Triangle of Sadness on Hulu and The Diplomat is on Netflix. This pod...

Ep 12 Classics: The Graduate 26.08.2023

It’s a new series! Can you believe such amateur podcasters already have another series? They can barely manage one series as is. Classics is going to be a one movie per episode series where Ben and Eric review old film that we believe is in the classic film canon. The catch is that one of us is watching it for the first time. This time Eric is the shmo. Listen to an armchair critic and an armchair...

Ep 11: Fire Of Love & Hijack 19.08.2023

Fire of Love? More like some fire ass documentary filmmaking! We’re back in the studio after a short vacay for a wholesome discussion about mortality, adventure, and ways of life. We do not, I repeat, WE DO NOT have a massive crush on Idris Elba ;). Our hosts take to the skies for some entertaining British Tv and a rather one sided “discussion” of film form. Stream Fire of Love on Hulu or Disney a...

Ep 10: C’mon C’mon & Andor 11.08.2023

Tired of hearing us rave about performances? Well stay tired chump, this episode’s movie is full of beautiful and nuanced performances. Filmmaking is back like it never left and it seems that A24 continues to do no wrong. Then, a company that just can’t seem to do anything right makes a good tv show! Disney let’s the artists take the reigns on and off the screen and it pays off… imagine that. Watc...

Ep 9: Midsommar & Jury Duty 04.08.2023

On this episode Ben and Eric take shrooms in the Swedish forest. They also forfeit their lives to their god so stay tuned until the very end. Jk, but Ari Aster’s fucked up mind and Florence Pugh’s multifaceted performance of a lifetime are on full display. On a lighter note, Ben learns a lot about himself and the show he’s reviewing “professionally” on this episode. Comedy and celebrity in LA are...
