The Aesop‘s fable, The silkworm and the spider, is about taking your time to do things that are worth it. I also included a cute little poem about a spider that is waiting for a meal.

The gingerbread boy is an American classic about a little old couple that long for a child. The woman wishes on her gingerbread that he were real. He comes to life in the oven and runs away.

The wolf in sheep’s clothing is a fable that teaches us about not judging a book by its cover. Just because something looks nice and innocent, does not mean that it is. The little turtle is a cute story about a snapping turtle.

Willaby is a first grader that loves to draw and she makes a card for her teacher, but she forgets to sign it. Will her teacher know that it was from her?

These two short poems are both about small girls. The first one is about a girl that is lost and how scary that can feel. The second one is about a little girl celebrating who she is and her name.

This short story is about a small boy who is lost and asks for help from a female officer. She helps him figure out his phone number and tries to locate his family.

This is one of my favorite folktales. It is about three Billy goats that are crossing a bridge and a troll tries to eat them, but they outsmart the troll and use his greed against him.

The hare and the tortoise teaches us about taking things slow.

The little engine that could is a story about perseverance. Though the train was small, she believed in herself and tried. Through pushing herself to try something that seemed impossible, she proved how capable she really was!

This adorable fairytale is about a goblin who is frightened out of his shoes, but his shoes did not want to be left behind.

This fable is about the importance of friendship and being kind.

The three bears is about a bear family that unknowingly allow a small girl to come into their house and take their things, break their things, and sleep in their beds. When they find her, she’s so frightened that she runs all the way home.

The story was about the history of automobiles.

Like most Mother Goose stories, this one is a cute and fun story that one might tell at bedtime.

This story is about appreciating being self-sufficient and independent. The grandmother gets her own vehicle and is able to go as she pleases.

Fables and fairytales teach us morals. This fable teaches us about being bitter.

I read two Pete the Cat stories from the I Can Read; Phonics series. Both stories have an abundance of long vowel sounds.

This is a lovely story about the earth welcoming a new child!

This story is a variation of “There was an old lady who swallowed a fly” and much like that story, the lady swallows many strange things.

In true Ms. Frizzle fashion, the students go on a wild adventure to learn about camouflage from the animals in the rainforest.

This is a very short, but cute story of a small girl trying to solve a problem and causing a few more along the way.

This is the final chapter. Junie B. Has to speak to the Principal and learns that everyone makes mistakes. She also, finally, gets to celebrate Grandparents’ Day!

In these chapters, Junie B. experiences some internal turmoil over a secret that she tries very hard to keep to herself.
