Basic Teen TV: Dawson's Creek Rewatch

Season 4 is almost over and there are some big changes and revelations coming to the surface: A new baby and Mitch not really loving it, a couple of hugh break ups, a new couple forming. And all we're trying to do is remember our own Proms. Where was it exactly? Was there a limo? Did we dance? Did we even go? 

You just really have to listen to this week's episode to truly understand the meaning of this episode's title but it turned into a running theme. But anyway, this week some big secrets are revealed. Joey comes clean with Dawson about losing her virginity to Pacey and what really happened that brought Jen to Capeside? Oh and more about college...people get acceptance letters and stuff...boooring! 

Pacey and Joey boned! Ugh, finally! This has been a long time coming and probably the longest any Capeside couple has ever waited to finally have sex. Now Dawson is the lone virgin in Capeside. This was the juiciest part of this week's episode of Basic Teen TV with some other less interesting stories sprinkled in here and there. And oh yeah...Joey, after finally having sex with her boyfriend, Pace...

Episodes 10, 11 and 12 of Dawson's Creek were all about relationships: Dawson and Gretchen's growing relationship, Pacey and his disfunctional family relationships and as always...Joey and Pacey's relationship. Oh and a major consistent opinion is that Joey is still and will probably always be a b*tch. 

There is so much beef brought up in these three episodes (ep. 7-9 of Season 4) and many attempts to squash all that beef. Can this fractured group ever come back together and heal?? Will all of them ever be friends again??? We sure hope so! LOL!

So a lot of anxieties were brought to the surface in these episodes because the gang is apply to college. We discuss a very timely issue in abortion, women's and LGBTQ rights. But there was also a lot of leaning into joy with a classic high-school party, a corporate Halloween Party...or was it a rave? And a certain uptight someone really leans into joy by experimenting with ecstacy.

Here it is...the moment you've all been waiting for...Basic Teen TV is back with our next installment. We are on to season 4 of Dawson's Creek. The biggest questions on our minds are what will Capeside be like with the return of Pacey and Joey and will the DC crew even care? Thankfully there was an episode that tests the true limits of everyone's friendship.

It's been so long that Victoria and Cyndi couldn't even remembered what happened at the end of season 3 of Dawson's Creek. I get it. As it has become our modus operandi it's taken us more than a year to come back with fresh episodes. We finally made it! We made through all of season three. We're about halfway through Season 3 and relationships in Capeside are a-changing. And the backdrop to these changes are some shitty stock footage of the Aurora Borealis, a golf course, and a culturally appropriated mural. On the upside, the character of Dawson Leery seems to be taking a backseat to much of the drama. 

While these next three episodes might be another snoozer, you'll want to listen all the way to the end because someone lint rolls a very interesting place on their body. Just kidding! Well sort of... So these next episodes were a  tiny bit more exciting. The show has done another marvelous rip-off...this time of The Blair Witch Project but we all agree that the episodes that kind of take the gang out of the usual drama are always more fun. We kind of found these next three episodes to be a snooze-fest. Each member of the Capeside gang is dealing with their own personal drama. Jack struggles with putting his life out on display with Dawson's documentary, Andi is worried that she's going to found guilty of cheating on the PSAT's, poor Joey has to put up with her horrible boss at the gas station for boats, Henry is given a bigger role...

And here is the final installment of The Fever Dream. There is major drama surrounding the PSAT's and we just do not get it but Eve is definitely the one stirring the pot here. 

We quickly follow up with the second episode and continue on with The Fever Dream. Strippers are still in our lives, Joey doesn't know how to deal with this while also dealing with a manager who is an HR nightmare, and Andi comes homes from her time in the mental institution, Jen is on the cheerleading squad and Jack joins the Capeside Minutemen football team.

Me and the girls are back talking about Season 3 of Dawson's Creek and in the words of Cyndi, these first three episodes were a doozy! It was an insane shit show!

But seriously this time, we've made it to the end of Season 2 thankfully all of us in one piece. One thing that remains true and will probably remain true throughout all of this is that the three of us will continue to use the incorrect name when we talk about any one of our 5 major characters and also mix them up. Say Joey when we mean Pacey, or say Jen when we mean Joey, etc, etc, etc! Ok, so he...
