Opposition resurfaces again, and there are attempts to distract Nehemiah. There are lies that are being spread about him, fear intensifies, but even when Nehemiah has every reason to stop, he keeps going.

If the enemy cant stop the work from the outside, he will join the work. Even though God's people were being attack from the outside, the work continued to move forward. But the work came to a stop the minute the people started battling with each other. Nehemiah hears the cries of the people and he leads the people to repentance, justice, and restoration.

When you give your life to Jesus, you are born again, you have new life found in Him. But you are also born into a battlefield. And the moment that we start building our lives around Him is the moment we start battling.

There are extraordinary days and there are ordinary days. And the Bible talks about both. Here in Nehemiah 3, we read a list of names and work that the people did. And while we there are extraordinary days ahead, Nehemiah 3 is all about some ordinary work.

Nehemiah grieved over his city, prayed about what to do, and then in God's timing, he had faith enough to do something about it.

When tragedy and suffering hit, Nehemiah does the first things first; he prays. What we learn from this prayer is not just how to pray, but to pray when life doesn't go the way we think it should.

If you have ever broken a bone, you know how painful that can be. The more you walk with God, He will in the same way break your heart for something, and it might be painful, but it will be worth it in the end! God will use you wherever you are and whatever job you have.

In the final moments of Jesus' life on this earth, Jesus shows His concern for those closest to Him. And even though this third phrase seems a little out of place, it gives us a beautiful picture of the heart of God.

Many people can have doubts as to whether they are saved or not. But as Jesus is hanging on the cross, He tells us everything that we need to know so that we can have the assurance we need to know that we will spend eternity in heaven with Him.

What does a follower of Jesus look like? For many of us, we would answer that question one of three ways: by what we do, know, or feel. But what we will see is that following Jesus isn't complicated; it's simple. When we look at Jesus's life, we see that it's about relationships!

Many of us sing Christmas songs as we put up our tree, wrap gifts, or make cookies. But even though we hear the songs, even though we sing the songs, we can mess up the lyrics to the songs. The Angels song is about the Gospel, and we might know the Gospel, but are we living it out?

Simeon provides an example of a life defined by the vision that God had given him. A person transformed by the Gospel will walk in the vision that God provides to His own.

One of the hardest things to do in life is to wait. We often ask more questions and feel more defeated in times of waiting. But in those seasons of waiting, God is still working.
