Acts 5. We see increasing opposition to the Church: Satanic opposition from within, and opposition from the principalities and powers from without. Through it all, we must respond as followers of the Suffering Servant, Jesus Christ.

In Acts 4, Peter and John confront the Sanhedrin which sent Jesus to his death. Afterward, they are released and gather with the disciples to pray, and the Spirit fills them again after an earthquake. Then the Church continues to grow in number and in unity. In these events, we understand the nature of 1) The Name we proclaim, 2) Our shaken worldviews, and 3) the grace we share.

Acts 3--The Spirit of Christ comes upon the Church to help us see the world in its brokenness so that we can speak Jesus' Name, in accordance with Jesus' Reign and Authority.

How Acts Chapters 1 and 2 summarizes that the mission of the Church is 1)to be a witness of Jesus Christ, who founded a new world, and 2) to implement the Resurrection as a foretaste of the coming New Creation.

Christians are called to be salt and light for the world, which means they should work for cultural renewal. To be a force for cultural renewal, Christians must understand 1) what it means to be a Christian culture, 2) the problems of 21st century American culture, and 3) how to be a faithful Christian presence within American culture.

The Gospel is the fulfillment of God's promise to write the law on our hearts by the power of His Spirit. One of the purposes of the law was to found a community that displays His character through radical generosity to the poor.
