The peace Jesus gives and the power the Holy Spirit is sent with are essential as we are sent out into the world.

The Psalmist was on to something he spoke of blessing for those who sought the Lord with their whole heart. This is less about intensity and more about truth. Sometimes the eyes of our hearts must be enlightened.

In the dysfunction of what is taking place we realize that there is real life brokenness that could take a completely innocent human and condemn them to death. All the while the One person who should be anxious seems to be walking in a strange peace.

What Peter’s denial of Jesus teaches us about a disciple’s road to bitter sorrow.

God uses the power of the darkness to destroy the darkness. The darkness can do nothing but shadow the true Redeemer.

After drinking the passover cup with his disciples for the last time until kingdom come, another cup remains in front of Jesus.

To men preoccupied by what seat in the Kingdom they will fill, Jesus invites them to a war-time reality that has come upon them. Jesus is inviting them, as friends, to become men in their faith.

Because all flesh is like grass and faith is more precious than gold Jesus uses satan in His school of discipleship.

Jesus disciples the hearts of these young men towards true greatness fueling their longings with promises that only God, Himself could keep.

The plot to kill Jesus begins to actually gain traction and is looking more inevitable and bleak-however, it is God’s plan from eternity past to save a people for himself and it culminates in the person and work of the final Passover Lamb-Jesus Christ.

Your Kingdom come Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We can know God.

To the disciples who, to some degree, are hoping in dates and times and plans and strategies, are given a vision for a Jesus far better than all of that.

Jesus answers the questions of the disciples regarding the destruction of the temple because their incorrect presuppositions might lead to being deceived.

As we continue into the season of Advent, let us be reminded that it is only the Consolation of Israel-Jesus, that can bear the weight of our Ultimate expectations. When our lesser expectations are framed around the person and work of Jesus, we can then, begin to truly enjoy this season for what it was meant to be.

The prophets weren't asking whether or not God would fulfill His promises. They were searching and inquiring to know when they would come to pass. And in God's promise of Advent, that the Messiah would come, His faithfulness was proven to us in the greatest way of all.

The Spirit of God is our teacher. One of the marks of the Spirit is that we are driven to one another which is arguably the Spirit’s primary classroom for our sanctification and formation as the sons and daughters of God. It could be said that the work of the Holy Spirit will lead us to a quiet life rather than an extraordinary one.

Essentially we are closing out a segment of interactions with Jesus where He brings to light the true realities of the Kingdom of God.

The questions we ask don’t mean much without a pure hearted curiosity to go along with it. Jesus isn’t fooled or drawn in by our weaponized flattery and loaded questions. In the end we are left with faulty discipleship resulting in liars and pretenders.
