Seeing something clearly can make all the difference. When we don't see Jesus clearly, we can't find the dignity, the substance, and the truth he possesses. However, when we do see him clearly, beholding him as he has revealed himself, we are changed to look more like him, entering into the joy and fruit that is promised.

As Jesus is confronted by his betrayer and his opposition, he surrenders himself to arrest and to death. It looks like this is the end of everything he promised, everything that was hoped for... but perhaps instead it is just the beginning of it all.

After a long break, we are back in the book of John. Before diving right back into the narrative, we take a moment to remember Jesus in all he has said, done, and promised in the book of John.

We often have an incomplete view of the love of our Heavenly Father - God loves us enough to correct us, to shape us, and to from us out of darkness and into light. This discipline provides perspective, it affirms our place as his children, and it produces holiness in our lives, all of which allows us to see and enjoy God more fully.

As we pursue holiness, we are shaped as we are nourished by the truth, provided a foundation, and given a people and a purpose.

Who we think we are affects how we live. What are we defined by? In Jesus, we are not longer defined as unholy, but are changed, forgiven, and blameless in the sight of God.

As God's people, we are called to holiness. We may know this... but what does it mean? Holiness helps us as we pursue it: it allows us to see God, it helps us follow God, and it invites us to enjoy God, as we were always meant to do.

Is the coming of Jesus Christ still good news of great joy for all people? Christmas reminds us every year of the timeless truths of who God is, what he has done for all of us, and why this is indeed good news of great joy for all who hear.

The gift of Christmas is ours to enjoy. Do we apprehend it? Do we enjoy it? Listen as Pastor Andrew unpacks why Jesus is indeed the greatest gift of all time.

We constantly feel pulled in two directions. On one hand, our culture and age is pulling us towards individual self-sufficiency as the ideal, and on the other hand we know and feel the need for good, strong, dependable, leadership. Paul's call to the church in Rome was to wake up and chase after Christ and his goodness, and the same call has come to our church in this season. God's people have always been torn - they have been offered the best of all things in God, and yet they continually stumble as they seek leaders and ways that are opposed to God's will and good intention. We too look for light, and often in all the wrong places. How does God work to bring light into the darkness?

As we close the series, we come to Jesus' well-known teaching on anxiety. What does seeking the kingdom have to do with living a peace-filled life?

The kingdom of God, Jesus teaches us, by design works differently than the world's kingdom. A natural part of kingdom life is planning out how we are to wisely invest our resources. Jesus teaches that where our focus rests, our worship is sure to follow. In this text, He is going to show us what it means to have an undivided focus so we can invest in things of eternal significance.    

As Jesus teaches on fasting, we learn something important about the heart of God - he cares just as much about our motives as he cares about our practices. Both are important, and in this teaching Jesus shows us the reward in engaging fully and joyfully with practices in order to find God at the end.

This week, we reflect on what God is stirring in our church and are encouraged to press into more of God, wherever we are found.

What is the kingdom of God? What is the will of God? How can heaven touch this broken, troubled world? Though well-known, this portion of the Lord's Prayer presents a number of important questions. Listen in as we examine these deep truths and their practical applications for our lives today.

In order to live as citizens of the kingdom, we must be acquainted with the Father, who is also King. How can he be the sovereign, powerful, holy king of the universe and a present, gracious, merciful, loving Father? In Jesus, he is both to us, and we walk in this beautiful paradox through his holy and hallowed name.

When we speak to our Father and King in Heaven, we are to do so with earnest, simple, sincere hearts. We are not heard for our many babbling words; we are heard because we have a Father who knows and loves us.

In this teaching on prayer, Jesus warns his followers against a life of spiritual showmanship. We are called to be formed as we abide in God through Jesus, and then we can be the light of the world as we are called to be.

In a time and season of anxiety and unrest, we are dedicated as a community to seeking the kingdom first, that all needs will be added to us (Matthew 6:33). In order to do this, we need to examine what this kingdom is, and perhaps most importantly, we need to know the King of the kingdom. Here we examine posturing ourselves to receive from, to follow, and to love this king.
