We are counting down the top five objections to Christianity according to the Resurgence Report; an ambitious cultural study completed in 2013, with focus groups completed in Austin, Boston, Phoenix, and San Francisco. This week, hypocrite is the word used for the number four objection on the list.

How did Christianity get to be so widely adhered to? The resurrection of Jesus Christ fanned the flames of an obscure group of followers into the largest world religion history has ever seen. This Easter morning we celebrate the single greatest sign, the single greatest verifiable evidence, in support of the exclusivity of Jesus’ person and work.

Good Friday, and the subsequent Christian Life, is an invitation to be changed, either for the first time by Christ's substitutionary death on the cross or for the Christian, once again in those areas of our life in need of sanctification.

Why is Palm Sunday referred to as the "triumphal entry"? What makes it a triumphal entry, is that it is an unexpected entry, one where Jesus triumphs over heart, not our problems.

For twenty-two weeks, John has been inviting us to move past the surface level of Christianity. Abiding in Jesus Christ means a full submersion into the gospel. If you aren't going deeper and abiding, then you aren't understanding the gospel. Will you go deeper and abide?

As this series comes to a conclusion in the next few weeks we want to ask ourselves again, "how do we abide"? Throughout this series, John has lead us through the theme of abiding in Jesus, and as we conclude we will focus on the hallmarks of abiding in the Truth.

Continuing from last week, we dig deeper into what John is teaching us about the Truth. In this week's text John emphasizes that the Truth, Jesus Christ, should change us. Truth produces a full life and anything that you abide in that is not of God, will not give you life. So, are you ready for a change?

God is the author and revealer of what is true in the world. For the believer to reject truth, whether through a messenger or directly in Scripture, the cost is life. Jesus is the Truth and if you don't have truth, you don't have life.

How can we be assured that God loves us? To be assured in our position and perfection in Christ is to be confident that God is working in our lives. Keep praying and abiding in Him, because He is always working in your life.

What does it mean to have faith? "Having faith" is not as simple as saying it or claiming that you are a Christian, so, then, how do we abide in our faith? We must first understand that faith is both saving (God's work in us) and living (Our work in the world). The fruit of our saving faith is our living faith, therefore, we must continue to let God work through us in the world.

How can we be more generous? This looks different for each of us, but what remains the same is that we are to be generous with others because God is generous with us. Although our circumstances under the sun are not going to change this year, neither is the power and presence of the living God, working in and through the people He loves, even when it seems like He's being very silent.

Love can be hard, it can be difficult to understand, but God's love it perfectly beautiful. Here John is saying, that in a very real sense, we can only see how the wrath of God, the judgement of God, and the fear of God are all coherent and consistent with a loving God; if we are born of God. It has cost a great deal, to a great number of people, for us to be here tonight [Christmas Eve], but nothing more costly than what is cost God for us to see Him tonight.

The only way to know love is to know God. So, lovers (beloved), let us know God's love rightly, because knowing God's love produces right lovers (Sons & Daughters).

If you want to be assured your faith is discernible, then you need to heed the appeal for a discerning faith.

God knows about all of your great sins which result in great doubts deep within your heart. But today He wants to assure you that you have a great God, who went to great lengths, to give you great confidence, that your belief in Jesus Christ is enough.

Do you have a vision of God big enough to sustain your ability to abide in a painful world? Our vision of God must be bigger than our world in order to truly abide in Him.

The Gospel is not just something which you graduate from…and it not just something you celebrate in…it is vital that you come to understand, that it is also something you anticipate on.
