Anime Doubleplay

A lot of great weekly anime this time around, including a surprising performance from Gamers! Speaking of surprising, we talk about some anime that really surprised us with their quality! Aaaaaaand, how can you not like Shelter by Porter Robinson?

Ahoy! We bring ye a pirate episode! But probably not in the way you expect. Yes, of course we talk about One Piece but what about anime pirating? We also fight over minute details in Koi to Uso, wrangle the more Haikyuu greatness and talk about how Boruto is pretty decent all while Thomas munches on a half eaten pizza!

KOI TO USO! Mary binges the episodes right before the pod and freaks out about the romance and drama of her favorite summer series so far. We also dig into the shortcomings of one of our favorite anime/manga of all time, Katekyo Hitman Reborn. A lot of anime gets thrown around this episode so make sure you keep up!

Everyone’s talking about it. Everyone hates it. But do we? We dive into the Death Note trailer but, more importantly, why Death Note is so damn good to begin with. We also get you thinking with some pretty intellectual titles about cultural assimilation, human sentience and…a high school quiz bowl team?

Check out our Summer 2017 preview where we go into the best and worst of next season’s titles! Cute boys and girls do things this season and it seems…boring? Also, Thomas defends the honor the Redline and did anyone ask for some Bleach redemption? Mary sure did.

Time to talk about cosplay! We have a special guest this episode, The Laser Girls! Listen to how this all girl power duo takes cosplay to a whole new level and show their anime spirit in their art and lives! We also reveal our thoughts about the finale of Attack on Titan, Netsuke Yuujincho and get a bit of a blast from the past and remember our favorite delivery god!

In which we divulge our favorite anime of all time, talk about some great movies and music and, even though Mary might be a fan of Armin, nothing compares to the love Thomas has for the future King of the Pirates.

We dive into over a dozen anime this episode! From the spectacle of Izuku and Todoroki's fight, to K-on, to Love Com, to a really weird bro-sis toothbrush scene in Monogatari (??) There's a little bit for everyone in this action packed episode so hold on tight!

Pull out the tissues! Episode 10 dives into one of Thomas' favorite OPs of all time: AnoHana! That anime is SAD. Also, why do anime always take place in high school? Hear why we think everything revolves around the springtime of youth!

What's more important, characters or plot? Spoilers: for the first time on the show, we disagree. Thomas also christens the Your Lie in April Opening as fantastic and "near-flawless" even though he never finished the series. He has a lot to unload on that one. And, thanks to a fan request, Mary finally gets to rant about Boruto!

Together at last! Mary and Thomas record together, talk about what they kind of anime they want to see more of and...freak out about One Man Punch??

WHY REINER WHY??? Attack on Titan hits the fan...hard! But is that the first anime you show someone who has never watched before? We talk Toradora, Gurren Lagann, and what the perfect gateway anime needs to get people you know into the genre!

Do sports anime strikeout? We recap the last week of episodes and talk about what make a good sports anime. Is it the characters? The plot? Or the sexy, sexy men? We also low-key fanboy/girl over Haikyuu, an amazing sports anime, only to finish up the episode with an anti-terrorist unit made up of little girls. Crazy right? Jump in and join the ride!

Attack on Fanservice?! We get super hyped and talk about all this week's great anime, from murder to boobs, and try to figure out why people like ecchi so much? Also, if anyone wants a video of Thomas dancing the Hare Hare Yukai, Mary is willing to auction it off!

Spring season is "fire" with great episodes all around! We talk about one of our favorite anime openings, a modern classic and anime freedom!!! #NOJUDGEMENT

Your Name is a masterpiece...with plotholes? Let's agree to disagree. A look at the One Punch Man opening and arguably one of the best animes of all time, Ano Hana!

Boruto is going to be the death of me! Boruto rants, Attack on Titan convo, openings and classics and...a surprise two-second cameo from our dad!
