Let's remember the incredible privilege of being alive at this time in history and being an American. I consider being born poor, the son of a mechanic and a housewife (who valued education and integrity), a huge advantage. I want to make a difference and make America better. I'm a writer, poet, and engineer. I am a moderate looking for compromise among Americans. Also, see youtube.com/@AncientTexan. Email the #AncientTexan at wiley.foxes@gmail.com to be interviewed. I have begun reading George Lakoff with my audience ... I hope to better understand how my own brain works and how that impacts my life and the politics of our country.    George claims that cognitive science is saying 98% of our decision process is in the subconscious realm.   It claims this has a huge impact on our political world especially considering that most of us s...

Facebook and Social Responsibility 14.11.2020

I believe FB's path to social responsibility is to require them to set up a platform where the individual is responsible and liable for their words just like in the real world.   We all know the problems called by FB; here is a simple suggestion to improve FB and make it accountable to us all while not trampling on the first amendment rights of freedom of speech. Namaste,  #AncientTexan

The Uncertainty of Your Life 11.11.2020

I have at least four areas of uncertainty in my life that are rearing themselves into my consciousness.: Trump; funding of my company; Covid; Health, etc.   I am sure you have your own areas of uncertainty.  What can we do to live a good life with the ever-present uncertainties of existence?

The Anger and Misery of Wealth Inequality 11.11.2020

The welfare of middle income has declined over the twenty years as wealth was redistributed to the rich. The life of poor people has become increasingly more miserable. The rich have tweaked the law to accelerate wealth inequality. Meanwhile the inequality of opportunities is the worse in the U.S. compared to all other western economies.

Coloring Our Stories Red or Blue 10.11.2020

We know very little.  We make observations or listen to others make observations, and then we fill in with a story between the observations.  Then we color the story with a dark blue or a dark red pen.  Our nation's future depends on us putting away the dark red and dark blue pens for a while and instead use or pink and light blue pens.

Listeners Needed for Inclusion 07.11.2020

We are a country full of people that feel like they have been left out, abandoned, abused, and ignored.  How did we get to a place where everyone's voice is rising and bouncing off the rooftops to be heard?  How many thousands of groups supported Biden to get him elected that now hope to be seen?  How many Trump supporters feel lost and ignored.   We need listeners for healing...

The Defiance of Trump 04.11.2020

Trump's followers are not loyal because of what Trump does or says, but how he makes them feel.  Imagine you're a blue-collar worker and you bust your ass and you still can not make enough money for a home, a car, and to take care of your family.  You are trying the best you can and it is not enough.   How do you feel? Sam Harris did a better job: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cDovL3dha2luZ...

Peace Makers 01.11.2020

Charles Spurgeon Blessed are the peacemakers, and one sure way of peacemaking is to let the fire of contention alone.  Neither fan it, nor stir it, nor add fuel to it, but let it go out by itself.  Begin your ministry with one blind eye and one deaf ear.                       &nb...
