MY DESI DOUBLE LIFE 👭 07.10.2024 15:36
No matter how independent I become, the expectations of how my parents, culture, and society want me to be is something I think will never leave me. (Expensive therapy bills pending!). STORY TIME: HOW I CAME OUT TO MY DAD 🏳️🌈👳🏾♂️😅 03.06.2024 20:24
Since it’s pride month, in this week’s episode I talk about my coming out story; the messy after math, what prompted me to come out and what I’ve learnt. Queer people have existed from the beginning of time, so have South Asian queers. I strongly believe there needs to be better representation, so that my 12-year-old Amma self doesn’t think something’s wrong with her, and future generations...
ANGER:GUSA 20.05.2024 11:14
Gusa in Punjabi means anger and it’s something I’m no stranger to. On today’s episode I talk about the ways I’ve dealt with anger in my desi home, my recent experience of feeling angry and how you can manager your emotions better. Life is too short to be in a constant state of rage or distress. Stop, breath, reflect. The moment will pass. Enjoy ❤️ Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/p...
TU MOTI LAGTHI 06.05.2024 12:14
This translates to ‘You Look Fat’. Awful I know… On today’s episode I talk about how normalised it is for our society to say such wild comments, and how I overcame a lot of my insecurity. I also mention my relationship with health, nutrition, and fitness and how I wish this subject was taught better in schools to educate young minds about being more aware of the benefits rather than it being...
BLAME 22.04.2024 10:18

EXPECTATIONS IN THE DESI COMMUNITY 25.03.2024 15:48
I came to the recent realization that no matter how hard I try to salvage a complicated relationship with family members, no matter how much I try to be the perfect daughter and seek validation, the list of expectations will forever be unreachable. Rather than trying to fit into a box and feel bad for MY choices, I made the decision to limit access to the beautiful parts of my life (friends, relat...
HOT AND COLD PARENTS 11.03.2024 16:50
One minute you’re being told off, the next your being served fruit. Being served fruit by your Indian parents is their equivalent of them apologising, of course without taking any accountability. On today’s episode I talk about hot and cold parents. No matter how much time passes their old negative habits/ opinions creep up here and there leaving you feeling confused and disappointed. Since...
LEAVING MY TOXIC DESI HOUSE - THE AFTERMATH 26.02.2024 26:09
I can't help but wish I had watched this video 3 years ago. Moving out was a major decision in my life, and while it didn't solve all my problems, it was definitely the best choice I ever made. In this week's episode, I dive into the nitty-gritty of the moving out process, sharing insights on dealing with landlords, offering practical tips for a smooth move, and venting about the chall...
MARRIAGE WITHIN THE DESI COMMUNITY 12.02.2024 15:16
“When will you marry”, asked my mum who would faint at the thought of me dating BUT, “I must find a life partner” she said. Welcome to the all too familiar and common reality of south Asians like myself who feel the sudden pressure to get married because apparently 25 is the prime age, otherwise I’ll expire by 29, God forbid 30. In today’s episode I talk about the stigma and ideas our...
BROWN BODIES, SELF LOVE AND INSECURITY 31.01.2024 22:20
TW: PLEASE NOTE THIS EPISODE INCLUDES SENSITIVE TOPICS. If there’s one thing I’ve always screamed at all my friends is don’t care what people think, they don’t care as much as you think. Now this is a lot easier said than done and insecurity naturally creeps up in waves. What’s important is how you manage it. In todays episode I talk about some the of issues I grew up with as a brown women s...

GUILT – BROWN EDITION 01.01.2024 22:04
Since my mum is my biggest hater towards my podcast, and I’ll post it anyway, todays episode is quite special to me, and I hope you can understand or relate to some of the guilt I feel as a result of leaving home; being outspoken and putting myself first as a brown person. Having to put your own needs second and staying compliant to your parents/ societies expectations is not a fair way to live, a...
