However in the larger context of the book, and the rumors that the military forced Ruppelt to add skeptical chapters, I have to wonder if chapter 19 is an attempt to bring the reader to a skeptical position...

Happy Holidays! Just in time for turkey day, we have the first of three chapters added for the 1960 edition of Ruppelt's book. The first edition, published in 1956, had just 17 chapters.    Some speculate that the last 3 chapters were added at the request of the Air Force, or perhaps a shadowy government agency. However we may never find out, as Ruppelt died of a heart attack at the young age of 3...

Some really good cases presented in this chapter, "What are the ufos?". While he doesn't explicitly answer the question, Ruppelt does hint at the possibility of interplanetary spacecraft. This chapter is mostly about one of my favorite sightings, the 1952 Washington D.C. flap. I'm sure we will do an episode on it soon.
