All My Favorite People Are Dead

In this week's episode, Shannon covers the story of the Fox Sisters and the creation of the modern Spiritualism movement. Maggie, Kate, and Leah Fox traveled the nation in the 1850s and 60s making it seem like they could talk to the dead. But were they? Or were they just cracking their toes? 

This week Sue is covering someone who was really great at swimming (which is something that Sue sucks at). Gertrude Ederle broke boundaries with her swimming abilities when she swam the English Channel in 1926. Listen and learn all about it then get out there and go for a dip!

This week Shannon shares with us a little history of the Battle of Gettysburg and some of the interesting deaths that occurred. We will also talk about just how spooky the place can be!   

In this episode, Sue covers the life of Howard Carter and his expedition to find the tomb of King Tut. We also discuss the legend of King Tut's curse, was it a curse or just a load of crap?  

So this week the Titanic is back in the news for unfortunate reasons. Five more people have lost their lives in that area of the ocean. So we decided to look at someone who survived the Titanic tragedy and went on to do some amazing work, Margaret Brown, or the Unsinkable Molly Brown as history would call her. 

Sue has done some very interesting research for this week's episode. We are getting down and dirty in the bedroom with various characters who died while having sex. Shannon has added a new segment featuring modern obituaries. 

This week, Shannon tells us the story of one of the fathers of Photography, Louis Daguerre! 

Sue is covering the interesting life and work of Emily Warren Roebling. She took over for her husband and helped build the Brooklyn Bridge! She was a trailblazer in so many ways. 

Shannon was inspired to talk about Queen Anne after watching "The Favourite"! Queen Anne is a somewhat forgotten royal figure who ruled from 1704 to 1714. Her life was full of sadness and health issues but yet she still did an excellent job as Queen. 

This week we are going deep and dark. Sue wanted to discuss the very macabre subject of Kids Who Kill. We ponder what makes someone evil, is it genetic? Do things in the child's environment bring it on? Could you think about this as well? 

Who Doesn't love Betty White? Last week we talked about a creepy White, this week, Sue tells us all about the wonderful human being that was Betty White! Nothing but good vibes here. 

In this episode, Shannon covers the story of the famous Gilded Age architect, Stanford White. Even though he made some beautiful works, his sex life got him into trouble and lead to his brutal murder. 

This week Sue talks about one of her favorite artists, Norman Rockwell! Everyone can relate to an illustration that he created. And even if you don't speak English, you can understand his work if you understand facial expressions and body language. His work is universal. We love Norman fucking Rockwell!

Shannon has found a fun story about a young housewife that needed to get the heck out of the tenement house. Annie Londonderry, also known as Annie Cohen Kopchovsky, decided to get on a bicycle and travel around the world in 1894. She left her husband and three young children behind to ride around the world in 15 months. 

Sue will tell the tale of one of her favorite gothic ladies, Vampira, whose real name was Maila Nurmi. Everyone has heard of Elvira but did you know a groundbreaking woman from the 1950s heavily inspired her? You'll learn all about the interesting life of Vampira in this week's episode! 

Shannon decided to focus on the macabre this week! We are going to discuss several stories of corpses that lost various bits and pieces of their bodies.  Also, the odd usage of corpses as trail markers on Mount Everest.
