Bright and early at 6am I host the WEST FM brekky show in Charleville and Longreach.

A big hello to Katie this afternoon on the show who's going on holiday to the Whitsundays with her daughter. We like to give local shout-outs.

It seems that making a bet in a pub can pay off if you're committed to it. That's exactly what Nicolas Barrioz and David Peyrou in France did. And they went into the history books for building the tallest rideable bicycle in the world.

The middle of a non-leap year often falls on the 2nd of July. I also gave some facts about July's birth flowers on the show.

Arizona. A state that boasts such marvels as the Grand Canyon, wild natural scenery and...........telescopes? That's right, the largest binocular telescope in the world can be found in the "Grand Canyon State".That is the subject for our Guinness World Record segment this morning

Wool you look at that. Here's a Guinness World Record that won't pull the wool over your eyes. Back in 2002 in Hay NSW it was the first National Sheep Counting Championships where one Peter Desailly sheepishly beat 100 other competitors to win the main title. Be-ewe-tiful...... I'll show myself out.

Charters Towers is known as a major hub of cricket and the CNQ Junior Cricket Camp is back on in July 4-6. I gave all the details on the breakfast show. Hopefully it will be a smashing hit-for-six event.

Normally it's a bit tricky to listen to music while riding motorbikes. But one motorcycle enthusiast, Denis Podshivalov of Omsk in Russia managed to go into the record books for creating an audio system belting out 143 decibels. I wonder if he played "Born To Be Wild" on it.

On the 20th of June, Lissner Park is hosting the 2025 History and Heritage Fair. To talk all about it, I spoke with the Mayor of Charters Towers, Liz Schmidt about the fun people can have at the fair.

I did a big shoutout to Jake this morning who's doing some renovations to his kitchen at the moment. Also, one of the first typewriters was patented on this day in 1868.

Some lucky gut in Richmond is turning 75 today. That's the first birthday call of the show this morning.

The humble fridge has been around in various forms since the invention of ice houses around 1750 B.C. Nowadays they have internet connectivity and responding to messages through the fridge door! I revealed some ice cold facts about the fridge this morning on the breakfast show.

While bronze might be third in the Olympics, It's certainly first for my Guinness World Record segment this morning. The world's largest bronze bowl will need quite a few tubs of yoghurt to fill as it measures a whopping 1.7 metres high with a volume of 8.5 cubic metres. It was built in China in 2011. Certainly one to "bowl" you over.

Everyone likes to be acknowledged for their birthday and to celebrate, why not nominate someone you know for my brekky birthday calls like peter did this morning.

Some record were meant to be broken, others were meant to be made. And that's exactly what happened in Manilla, Philippines in October, 2023 when employees of Uratex and members of local charities gathered in a Manilla warehouse to comfortably set the world record for the largest human mattress dominoes.
