This month is ANZAC day right across the region. I gave some details on the Dawn Service and Parade in Charters Towers on the 25th of April.

On first glance the number 22 may seem a bit boring or uninspiring, but it seems to be more popular than some of us realize. I did a little showcase of the humble 22 (or two little ducks as it's nicknamed in bingo) on the breakfast show this morning.

With the footy season well and truly underway, sales of meat pies at the games are set to skyrocket. Which brings us to today's Guinness World record for the world's most expensive meat pie. This one you won't find in the frozen section of your local Coles or IGA, and it involves gold leaves, truffles and vintage wine. Sauce is extra. lol

On the Guinness World Record segment on the brekky show this morning, I revealed the record for the world's first passenger car. It's older than you may think..........and it was steam powered. I'm not sure if someone had to shovel coal into it to keep it going though.

Today is the birthday of one of the most successful producers of the music industry who was nominated for an Academy Award for penning the song "Happy" for the film Despicable Me 2.

Now in its 74th year, the Maxi Races in Maxwelton, west of Richmond in western Queensland is back on! A fun filled 5 races program with live music, foot races around the track and a recovery breakfast is some of the awesome activities that people can take part in. The fun begins on Saturday, the 13th of April. I spoke to one of the organizers, Megan on the breakfast show this morning.

In the lead up to the Charters Towers Country Music Festival, there will be a trivia night taking place at the Charters Towers Showgrounds on Wednesday the 1st of May. A fun night where you can get a team of 10 together to win some great prizes. Only $20 per team!

If you have ever been to the magical city of Venice in Italy, it was on this day (25th of March) that this floating city was founded in 421 at 12pm precisely. That is just one event that occurred on this day.

Coming up in May, the town of Hughenden in QLD comes alive for a whole weekend as part of the Festival Of Outback Skies event. The festival includes a thrilling rodeo, champagne breakfasts, workshops, art works, opera performances, plus a Johnny Cash tribute show. Fun for the whole family.
