Age Of The Millennial

As the title suggests this episode is about choosing the right relationships, more specifically, friendships.

I wanted to ring in the new year like everyone else. Out with friends and family, watching the ball drop. Instead, I was hunched over in bed throwing up and crying because I was in pain and suffering from the cold shakes. COVID isn't a joke and if we don't take it seriously, it will undo everything we ever built.

Being seen as the "other" in society, and being treated as such, can have terrible lasting effects on a person's mental health. Listen to me and my friend Luke as we share our stories of mental health struggles and how we overcame them. I won't tell you how to feel about Kyle Rittenhouse getting off on all charges, I can't, but here are my thoughts about it. These are my opinions and my opinions alone. You don't have to agree or understand, but I hope you'll listen.

Opportunity costs. Do you know what it means? To live life in the slow lane because you're afraid of the "what ifs" that could happen. If you have never been in a customer service role, then congratulations to you. Just know that doesn't make you better than anyone who has, it makes you more fortunate! Customer service facing roles can be some of the most degrading and unflattering careers out there. Just because someone chooses to be in a customer service position doesn't mean they don't like it, or they need something more.

Regardless of which camp you are in, the fact of the matter is a sixteen year old girl is dead. How did this happen and how did things get to that point? I am not sure, so I cannot rightfully decide who is wrong and who is right. All I know is, the attention the media is giving to this story only makes the loss that much harder to take.

Life is hard sometimes, so when the going gets tough, escape. There's nothing wrong with wanting to escape the stresses of life, if done in moderation. So how do you do it?

As millennials, we were always encouraged to think outside the box. To be innovators. To be inventors. To dream big and to win it all! But what about the reality? The reality that anything and everything, including your vision, can be taken from you. Again, as a generation, we were told something that wasn't entirely true. "I'm sorry, but I don't like to talk politics". This is a common line many Americans use to avoid speaking about their political affiliation... But why? If we can have an hours long conversation about football, the Grammys or the latest superhero flick, why can't we speak about politics? Is it really because we don't want to start an argument or is it because we don't know what the fuck we're talk...

In our day and age, I always thought that my added responsibility of teaching my mother was normal. As it turns out, the role reversal of parenting a parent usually comes later in life (according to my therapist). Then I found out many of my friends/coworkers do it too, which lead me to create this episode. Let me know if this is a trend you have noticed in your life, parenting your own parent.

No wrong answers here, but how do you cope? In this time coping is more important than ever, but whether you do a constructively or destructively is what matters most. I have been in both camps, where I've coped in both constructive and destructive ways, but I've made it out in mostly one piece. Tell me how you cope because I really want to know.

Being part of the working poor sucks ass! Being a millennial that did everything by the rules society dictated as the way to success, just to fail is even worse. Minimum wage increases are not enough. The working poor needs to come together and fight those who control us, the SUPER RICH!
