A study has shown how older trees in the province have evolved throughout time. We find out more with Vincent Hanlon, who conducted research as part of his master of science in the faculty of forestry at UBC.

Yesterday the B.C. Court of Appeal struck down the plastic bag bylaw, saying municipalities do not have the power to enact these rules without the permission of the provincial government.

In their reasons for judgment, the Court of Appeal found that the bylaw’s dominant purpose was to protect the natural environment rather than business regulation.
