Harness are a great tool for anything but stopping your dog from pulling. If you want a dog to pull you while searching for a missing person, or give them the best mechanical advantage when racing in Alaska than this is the tool for you. If you want to stop you dog from pulling than putting a leash on is most likely not going to help. 

Tools can be wonderful if used properly however, using a tool for one thing that is opposite to its intended purpose is just ignorance. I have worked with several different harnesses and none are magic fixers so please stop trying to make them that. Most often than not this behavior will not go away on its own. Ignoring your dog here is only 30% of the answer. Yes we do not want to draw more attention to the behavior but it is always helpful in teaching the dog what we do want them to do when stimulated by the cue of food on the counter. Teach them that there are contingencies in place for if they are allowed to eat the food or not. 

Having fun with your dog is one thing. But what can you do when you aren't in the mood for a nice long hike that you know your dog needs.
