Australia beat England by 49 runs in a rain-affected game overnight, to clinch the ODI series 3-2. The guys break down the series win before turning their attention to other international fixtures. 

There’s lots of cricket on at the moment cricket nerds, and Teddy and Corbin do their best this week to cover a lot of ground and make sense of it all.  They take a look at domestic results and individual standouts, Australia’s massive ODI winning streak rolls on and a six-day Test in Sri Lanka, we find out why.

Spring has sprung, we’re almost there cricket nerds! The summer of cricket is approaching. Teddy and Corbin break down the underwhelming international BBL draft, and we help name the Domestic One Day Cup. Before breaking down the big news in the world of cricket this week, 35-year-old Jay Shah is about to run the ICC. What does that mean for international cricket?  

Spring has almost sprung, which means cricket season is nearly upon us! About bloody time.  Teddy and Corbin have a lot of ground to cover, starting with a proposed ICC fund to reinforce Test cricket outside the Big Three. We love the idea, hate the execution.  Bangladesh make history, we join the Ollie Pope fan club, and we champion cricket in the NT.  Big ep cricket nerds.

In a very special episode of the pod, Ed is joined by his BFF who also happens to be the Australian men’s chair of selectors, George Bailey.  The duo dissects the art and science of cricket selection and look at how George has continuously managed to pick and curate the best cricket team in the world. 

We’ve lost Corbin to the Paris Olympics for a few weeks, but we don’t take breaks here at the Grandstand Cricket pod! The game we love is at a crossroads cricket nerds!  Teddy and Corbin reflect on a recent cricketing summit held at the Marylebone Cricket Club to discuss the future of our great game.  Spoiler alert, some of the findings are not good for ODI and Test cricket.

We love a chaotic World Cup, and things are getting very spicy across the Pacific.  The U.S. may have pulled off one of the biggest upsets in tournament history after they downed Pakistan, while England are (probably) packing their bags early! “The best white ball bowler of all time.” Mitch Starc and his Kolkata Knight Riders have won the IPL as Travis Head falls for a golden duck. Starc bowled arguably the delivery of the tournament and was awarded man of the match honours. Teddy and Corbin break down the final and learnings from the IPL, before we turn our attention to the upcoming T20 World Cup.

We start the new season with a lot of IPL catch-up, developments in the WBBL, County cricket using a Kookaburra and is JL going to coach India? Probably not but Corby couldn’t help himself. The Kiwis fumble the bag against big brother yet again! They fell to the Aussies after it seemed like even they couldn’t mess this one up. Alas, they did.  Teddy and Corbin are here to break it all down for you, before looking ahead at what cricket is to come in 2024. This is our last ep for the season cricket nerds, it’s been a joy. Australia’s dominance over the Kiwis has continued with another Test victory inside four days. Teddy and Corbin break down all the action from Wellington. The lads also find time to catch up on some Shield cricket, including the terrible news out of the Victorian camp as fresh doubts are raised over Will Pucovski's immediate playing future after suffering another knock to the head.

Turns out Teddy is a Swifty! Ed joins us in his Taylor Swift merch after being front row of the Eras Tour in Sydney. After a brief play-by-play of the concert from Ed, the lads break down Australia’s strong T20 showing against New Zealand, before looking ahead to the Tests. Why only two Tests? Who knows, but we don’t like it. We also chat domestic cricket, and our favourite Bazball.

Good news cricket nerds, our season has been extended! The pod will continue for another four weeks so we can cover the Aussie tour of New Zealand. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves though, let’s put a bow on the international summer of cricket that has now come to an end. Don’t worry, we find some time to laugh at Bazball as well.

Teddy pays tribute to Travis Head with a moustache of his own as he and Corbin reflect on that magnificent Maxwell innings in Adelaide, a confusing run-out decision, Warner bingo, and what our T20 squad for the World Cup is likely to look like come June 6.
