New York's Governor Kathy Hochul is defending her plan to build up housing in the suburbs. Lawmakers might have other ideas, as we hear from WCBS's Steve Burns.

 After a series of close calls at the nation's airports the FAA has opened a safety summit today.  CBS News Correspondent Kris Van Cleave is at the summit in McLean, Virginia and joined us on WCBS 880.

Ten weeks into the year, New York is leading the nation in fire deaths, at 46. Firefighters are now calling on lawmakers in Albany to make changes, starting with more building inspections. WCBS Reporter Steve Burns spoke with John D'Allesandro, with the Firefighters Association of the State of New York.

We take a deep dive into a new tool the Transportation Department has unveiled to help parents who travel with young children.. find flights that help them sit together.  CBS News Travel Editor Peter Greenberg talked about it on WCBS 880's Afternoon Roundup,   

State health officials in new Jersey have come up with a plan to prevent deaths in areas known as "overdose hotspots."  WCBS Reporter Marla Diamond talked about the plan on 880's Afternoon Roundup.
