This week we recap our ice cream social that took place a few weeks ago and we delve deep into Valley Village. 

This week we are joined by return guest Spike Friedman to talk about redlining and housing discrimination in the valley. 

Hi folks! 818's and Heartbreak turned 1 year old and to celebrate we livestreamed on Twitch and chatted with a bunch of listeners and answered some valley questions! Here is the audio of that. We also shared stories about getting our driver's licenses and cars we've had over the years.

This week we are joined by valley historian and author, Marty Cooper! Marty has written two books about the valley including the book "Read All About It! The Valley Times: 1946-1970" about a long defunct valley newspaper. He came on to talk about his book, his history in the valley, the huge growth the valley went through after World War II, and even had a tale to share about Walt Disney.

This week we sit down to talk about the brutal murders committed by the Manson Family and their Valley origins. Don't worry we haven't turned into a true crime show and there are no descriptions of said murders. We do talk a lot about Spahn Ranch, though. Classic. There have been a few attempts over the years to have the valley secede from LA and form its own city, most recently with Measure F in 2002.
