Phoole and the Gang

The First Friday in June is when those of us who are fortunate enough or paranoid enough to have a Subterranean Safety Bunker - for example, a PhooleOut Shelter - conduct a regularly-scheduled BUNKER INSPECTION, commemorating the Bunker Inspection of 2020, inspired by The Former Guy. It is so pleasant and invigorating to INSPECT THE BUNKER at a reasonably-leisurely pace, comforted that we are in t...

After an initial panic of a late preparation-start and tech alarums, we open with disco love, romp through tech house stompers, then ricochet through a strange breaks interlude and fly directly through an acid-house retrospectacular with a punchline Phoole thinks is VERY clever. The inside of Phoole’s head sounds like Max Tundra’s ‘The Entertainment,’ which explains a great deal. Clones, minifigs,...

Music Friends Around the World - it’s what Phoole & the Gang is for! 2R has been one of Phoole’s best music friends, and she’s so glad The Aardvark brought 2R to the Phooliverse! 2R is a multimedia artist who’s done really cool work in animation, drone videography, music production and live and livestreaming DJ performance, and he just celebrated a big big birthday - so we asked him for his favori...

We really miss traveling. We want to go to Japan! We can’t yet. So let’s ram a show full of tunes by artists from Japan! Two of the tunes ARE NOT by an artist from Japan. One of the tunes is a freaky Madness cover. One tune is a daft Elgar homage. One tune is a strangely-beautiful Chemical Brothers rework! There are illegal amounts of FPM in the mix. The show is super-high-energy to power our imag...

We’ve got a LOT to celebrate in show #351! This past week we celebrated #TransDayOfVisibility and Johann Sebastian Bach’s birthday on the SAME DAY, which is shockingly convenient for those obsessed with Wendy Carlos, AND then it was #AprilFoolsDay on Thursday, and it’s #Passover, and #Easter is happening over the weekend - PLUS it’s another wonderful #BandcampFriday where you can support your favo...

I’d like to be under the sea...but Periscope is diving for the final time at the end of March 2021. So in Show #350, we bid a fond and loving farewell to a platform that’s brought so many new Phooligans into the Phooliverse! The show is wholly devoted to maritime themes in honor of this momentous occasion. If you have relied on Periscope as Phoole & the Gang’s video archive, you’ll now want to be...

Daft Punk have retired. Many people have feelings. Gatekeepers are firmly and dourly keeping gates. Everyone has opinions. What is a fact is that the robot pals inspired a sound that I love, so this week's show is completely made of that sound - French Touch, filter house, joyful melodic disco love!
