Have You Not Read?

“Have You Not Read?” is a podcast that seeks to answer your questions, on literally any subject, by shining the light of God’s Word on them. Pastor Michael is joined by a rotating line-up of guest hosts to tackle questions about theology, culture, current events and more. Our thesis is that Scripture is sufficient to give us the truthful answers to all of life’s questions. The Bible is a cogent and coherent whole that presents the only valid lens through which all of reality can and must be understood. Forgiveness and Suffering 14.02.2022

Dillon, Michael, and Andrew deal with the important questions of the nature of biblical forgiveness and the problem of seemingly senseless suffering.  What does biblical forgiveness look like practically?  Does it require offending party's repentance, or do we just freely forgive even if it is not asked for?   How should the Christian respond to personal suffering when it seems to make no sen...

Poetry and Christ's Kingdom 07.02.2022

Dillon, Michael, Andrew and David discuss the nature of Christ's kingdom and reign as well as why poetry is used in the bible.  Is Jesus reigning as King now or does He have to come back to begin His reign?  Do the poetic passages in the bible carry the same weight as the more concrete, didactic passages? Let's Talk About Baptism 31.01.2022

Dillon, Michael, Andrew and David talk about the value and the pitfalls of Christian debate, infant baptism versus believer's baptism, and how to tell if a child is ready to be baptized.  Is there value in Christians from different theological backgrounds publicly debating issues like baptism?  If a person is baptized as an infant and then comes to faith later in life, should they be baptized...

Parroting People and Law Versus Grace 24.01.2022

Dillon, Michael and David discuss the difference between knowing doctrine for yourself versus parroting the views of your pastor and the relationship between "the law of Christ" and being under grace.  Are we simply regurgitating doctrinal soundbites from gravitational personalities or being good Bereans?  Are law and grace compatible, and how do they relate to one another on this side o...

Conflicting Commands, Circular Reasoning and Puffed-Up Christians 17.01.2022

David Casson joins Dillon and Michael to discuss how to answer the claim that the Bible should not be followed because it is internally inconsistent, the use of circular reasoning in proving any ultimate authority, and dealing with arrogant Christians.  Does the Bible tell Christians to love their neighbors, but then turn around and tell them to hate or even kill certain other kinds of people?  Is...

Dispensationalism, Apologetics and Ethnic Diversity 10.01.2022

This week Dillon, Michael and Andrew discuss dispensationalism, premillennialism, apologetics and ethnic diversity.  If you spiritualize the Old Testament passages concerning the new temple, doesn't that make you a theological liberal?  Was the early church premillennial in its eschatology? What do you do when a Mormon or Jehovah's Witness shows up on your doorstep?  Should we strive for...
